I got Biomech with Thing beyond things bonus track at the end, such a great song and very mellow, then ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!!! Never fails to make me jump like a loony everytime. "Strapping Young Lad rocks my hairy anus" was so much quieter lol

I love that little robot voice, I can't believe it took 5 pages for someone to mention it. LOL

Seriously that scream gets me every time. Anyone played F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point? There is a comparable scream on one of the last missions, it is a girl and it was technologically enhanced so I give it not nearly the same amount of credit. But It scared me even more than the end of things beyond things. That's hard to do. lol

HOLY F***ING SHIT. I just imported the song into Audacity and for some reason it picked the wrong sample rate and extended everything and made it lower pitch. You would not believe how terrifying it is, seriously, it goes on for half a minute.

So, the first time I listened through the album, I was in absolute awe at The Death of Music, and then Things Beyond Things comes on, and I'm enjoying the nice mellow close to the album. I usually wait for a minute before playing anything else, to let the album resonate. So, the silence was expected, but the scream that made me jump higher than anything in my life was not.

My thoughts exactly as well! That's a cruelly rude awakening after such an aural journey called Ocean Machine. The musical equivalent of internet shocker/screamer sites!

Funny, these hidden messages that come after a period of silence following the last song on an album seem to come in two flavours: harmless pointless rambling or little skits after many, many minutes the actual track has ended (e.g. found in Mastodon's Pendelous Skin and Bruce Dickinson's The Alchemist), and then there's Things Beyond Things... A rather short silence followed by an totally blood-curdling shriek.

Note to self: make screamless cd-r of OM in case of any "special occasions" I already made an edited mp3 version of it. Listening to the OM cd indeed requires either keen reflexes to pop it out before the wakeup call or at least try to keep in mind it's lurking in there waiting to scare you shitless.

The scream at the end always reminds me of the end of the first side of Iron Maidens first album, when the song stops and gives you time to walk to the record player, then Di'anno screams "Torture me back at your lair" :P ARGHHHH!!!!
