Off-tempo clicks in Deep Peace..??

Okay, so ever since I first listened to Terria, the clicks that don't synch up with the guitar or Devin's singing at 1 minute in, and again at 1 minute 30 seconds have just bugged the hell out of me. First of all, what is making the sound? It sounds like it's probably hi-hat but I can't say for sure. Second, why?! They throw me off so much haha. Obviously I'm nitpicking here with such a minor issue, but it's made me curious. Any thoughts on this?

I don't think it's a hihat. I'm fairly sure it's just a sample in the background, along with the other sounds... It does sound a bit like a hat, though. It almost sounds like an edited sample of a hihat, or maybe just a single hit with some sort of delay/echo effect on it. It's never bothered me, really-- I sorta like the effect it has actually.

yeah i'm pretty oblivious to it when i'm in the "terria zone" but as soon as i try and tap my foot along to it, i fuck it all up every time haha.

But what are the clicks at the very end of Deep Peace, just before Canada kicks in? A metronome or what?

i always thought it was an off tempo hi hat.
Never bothered me much, and started not to bother me at all since i noticed that if i'm kinda moody and listen to the instrumental section+"it's all going away now" combo, i'll start crying like a homossexual newborn baby

lol Yeh that "its all going away" part is good when your hungover.
