Finally finished my new version of "Black Hole"

This one is epic on its own scale. Added some new parts and re-arranged some things. Tried my hardest to make some parts stand out more and I believe that I did.

Let me know what you think! This is the first (and at this point only) song I wrote in "8 string tuning". I absolutely love it. It's droney and heavy and has an underlying Meshuggah type vibe.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang. Soo crunchy, the sounds. That's a damned fine distorted tone, too.

The song was aces, btw.

Thanks man! This is one of my personal favorite things I've ever written. It's very different than most of the stuff I write.

Nice! I can't give proper critique since my monitor 'phones are packed already (just using a set of earbuds now) but that main riff sounds great! Real huge pattern. Extremely fitting title as well since that meshuggahesque tone always sounded completely pitch black to me (the only kind of tone that I've heard as that color so far) May just be my lack of monitors but... snare has that painful crack to it again, sorry. It sounds like it's right in the 3k-5.5k range there, that really crackly/sharp sort of spot. I might try taking it down bit there and boost the higher freqs around 8k, might sound a bit more thin and SYL "Alien"-like but it won't be painful anymore. Haha, sorry if you aren't interested in changing the sound... I think maybe I'm just programmed to find the DFH snare sound incredibly unpleasant. :P

Dont worry! I'm in the process of trying to get DFHS 2.0 which has much better samples! This snare actually has the least "crack" to it of all the EZD snares, especially with how I set it up. Plus I like having a little bit of a crack to the snare ;) lol But I can see where you're coming from for sure with the snare, it could be much better overall.

The hardest part with EZD is to try and have less crack on the clean, softer part. I lowered velocities and overall volume levels to try and eliminate that..

Line 6 POD X3 Live, Big Bottom amp model, Treadplate cab, 421 mic, and the most important part: the Boost+EQ stomp effect!

Cool tone, you've pretty much nailed the 'shuggah sound there. 8)

Good stuff . Although I think I'd have to agree with the snare being a little "cracky".
