Black Lotus - Harvest of Seasons

Hey all,

My band (Black Lotus) released a CD in October titled 'Harvest of Seasons'. If I said our music was similar to Devin's I'd be lying. But I'm a huge Devin Townsend fan and would be honoured to get some feedback from people who also share a love for Devin's music. Who knows, perhaps my Devin influences shine through. Regardless of our musical differences us and Dev draw our inspiration from the same beautiful surroundings, the west coast of British Columbia which is a constant theme in our music. Anyways, here are a couple of links where you can sample some music:

Anyways, don't take this as shameless promotion. I genuinely want to know what other Dev fans think of our music. Any feedback good or bad will be appreciated. Thanks.

Regards,

Jason Robertson

So far I'm only in the middle of Terra Hiberna, but I am definitely hearing some Devin influences in the tone of the guitar on the right (that you? ;)) and the general progressions/interactions of the rhythm guitar and keyboard. Sort of like if Devin played black metal... Interesting! I LOVE the clean vocals. Black metal isn't a genre of choice for me (like any genre I don't dislike it, it's just not completely my thing most of the time), but this makes me think I could get into it. Please, please please never get rid of those clean sections. I'd love to hear music like this with clean vocals 100% of the time.

Sounds good! Also, you're in Victoria? Cool! I'm living in Nanaimo right now with plans to be in Victoria by January. :)

EDIT: Also added you on Myspace; I'm Swimfail.

I'm playing keyboards actually. Thanks for the kind words. Definitely no plans on getting rid of the clean vocal sections. Jasper really took his singing and lyric writing to the next level on this album. His vocals are easily my favorite aspect of the album.

We'll be playing in late February. Check our myspace for the exact date as it escapes me at the moment.

And, thanks again for the feedback!

Love it man, totally awesome stuff. I can hear dev in there somewhere, in some of the screams and maybe just the general Epicness of it, but generally the orchestration of the songs are brilliant, awesome chord changes, awesome clean vocal notes. i really find it to be really beautiful music.Thankyou for sharing, i'm so gonna purchase a cd, great recording!

+1

Very nice ambience and really great vocals. Top stuff, and I don't even like black metal that much.
