Hello all!

I used to love making covers. Used to. That was until the midi program I used to create drum tracks decided to completely quit working on me. I created each drum track from scratch, listening to the music over and over trying to get each bass, snare, tom, and cymbal hit right on. I used Microsoft Studio v4.xsomething because it was incredibly easy to use and I had a lot of experience with it. But now, no matter what I try, the program just won't work any more. I was in the midst of creating a cover of Opeth's Hope Leaves when it stopped working.

Let's see, what was the point of all this? ... Ah, yes. If anyone would like to, or has suggestions on how I might, create the drum track for Hope Leaves, that would be fantastic. I couldn't figure out Sonar as I just didn't understand the midi-input system. I need something that looks like a musical staff (as in Microsoft Studio). You can listen to another cover I did of To Rid the Disease here:

I recorded all of the parts using my piano, so some of the guitar parts didn't translate as well, but meh. I can't play guitar, so... And I tried my best on the singing, hehe. Anyway, that's just to give whomever might be so venturous as to what I'm capable of. I really want to finish Hope Leaves! I'm desperate!

I won't be online for a few days, and don't have time to do it now, but I can give you some tips if you want to use Sonar for this.
I use Sonar for all my recordings. It can be a bit daunting at first, but it's pretty easy to use once you get used to it.

Personally I find the piano roll easier to use for drums, but you can enter midi notes using the staff view in Sonar if you want. (Right click an empty area in your MIDI track and select View/Staff from the popup menu)
