Hi!

This is the first time I'm posting here. I've got a little project going on called "Melting Pot". I sometimes do little this and that at home and see what comes out of it. I'm a Dev fan (obviously), so I got little inspiration from DTB and the genius himself. I then composed this five-and-a-half minute catastrophe. Feel free to listen and comment if you have time..

That's quite beautiful catastrophe.

Nice wall of guitars you have there. I love the mood, like Dev's but less ambienty. Great stuff, honest. Saved on disk for further listening :)

edit: can't help myself and have to say that: change of pacing about 3:30 is just spiffy. Quality.

Thanks for replying :)

BTW: I'm up to a new project, one where I'm writing lyrics too. I'ts kinda Accelerated Evolution'ish (like my friend said one time). Anyway, as soon as it's finished, I'm posting it here

I'm kinda surprised with lack of feedback, song is very good. Strong competition here, earworm stole everybodys attention or what? :)

I like it, I like it a lot!

Wonderful build up in the intro, into some really nice riffs. Great tone! How was this recorded? Sounds wonderfully Dev-like. Beautifully atmospheric and really well produced for what I am assuming is a totally home recording. Very impressive!

I would love to hear a high(er) resolution mix of this track. 128kbits MP3 doesn't do it justice.

This track actually reminds me of 'October' by Suicide Safari (Earworm)!

Hmm....HDAS2....hmm....heh

I recorded the guitars and bass straight with POD 2.0 and for drums I used Toontrack Drumkit From Hell. That ambient-like sound at the last part is from a Korg Legacy plugin.

And yes, this was done totally at home. I don't have a special sound card or anything (just the integrated) but thanks to the VST magic, I can create something which sounds somewhat listenable.

Loving it =D. What are you using to record the guitars by the way, and at what percentages do you have both of them positioned at? It's an interesting feel that I don't think I've heard in anything else I've listened to so far =P.

I used my POD2.0 for guitars, a Mesa Rectifier model on the right side (+85%) and a Soldano amp model on the left side (-85%). To be exact, I use a surround plugin to adjust the front/rear pan also and rhythms are +35% on the front.

The solo guitar is quite in the center and about 50% on the front side.

Cleans... I think I used a Mesa MarkIIC+ clean channel model. And the percentages are the same as on the rhythm channels.

O.O thats scary..... I too use a Soldano/Mesa Rectifier combo from my PODxt in a similar set up (apart from surround plugins)....doesn't sound that good though!
