No you don't I think most archiving tools support extracting rar files these days. Extracting is free, compressing needs a license so most archiving tools don't support that. Just to be clear

As for putting it on Demonoid, that would be awesome. There's actually a couple tweaks I totally forgot about in the excitement of finishing the album though, so I'm gonna fix those and then re-upload the rar. I'll let you know when it's up so you can use that one.

Hey Josiah, have listened to this twice so far so feel I am in a position to comment on it. Sorry I havent been on MSN in ages, but I have not been able to install the thing since my last computer death. Arses! I missed out on the inside scoop as this project developed, heh. Anyhoo....

Monga's Review:

As I am sure I have mentioned here before, I am a huge fan of the previous Swimfail release Borerer. And thats not just in a polite diplomatic way, or because I like Canadians...no, I actually really dig that album. If it was in the shops I would buy the special gatefold chocolated coated vinyl edition. Twice. So it is with great expectations that I am listening to this new album. And my first reaction is basically - awesome stuff!

On second listen it is clear that this album is not quite like Borerer, or the Blasted Lands EP. One obvious difference is that you are singing on all the tracks whereas previous Swimfail music had been largely instrumental. Having heard some of your first attempts at singing I can say that your voice has come a long way and you have also gained some experience in the recording and production of that voice. I think it is fair to say that you dont have the strongest voice (yet) but you are certainly using it very well. Particularly on the last track, The End Of Island Nine, you have found an excellent balance between your wonderfully textured instrumental metal-dom (InstruMETAL?) and some quite tasteful (tasty?) vocals.

As for the other sounds...they are different too. I listened to Borerer and Blasted Lands again today and there is a difference to my ears in the music in general. This release has more of a song driven structure and almost a more 'garage' sound to it. Not lo-fi at all, but not so delicately heavy as the others. Does that make sense? Perhaps this is because you have wanted to add the vocals and so needed this sensibility for it to make sense vocally. This feels like a much more personal release, much more human. I think this is reflected on the cover art and your narration on Hyperloafer (wasnt it? Errr, cant listen just at the moment, but you are talking to yourself about your 'to do' list...hehehehe).

So, from comparing Borerer to this, I can say that where Borerer was an abstract journey through the psyche of some mysterious other character in a strange world, this record is much more you. This is your music, your art, your life, your...errr...Dad? Brother? Uncle? Cat? This is stuff I could imagine being played live, by you. And you should be proud of yourself! It is a great collection of songs.

And due to the huge amount of respect I have for you Josiah as an artist and a true gentleman, I can admit to you that at the moment that SCTFTPTF has not knocked Borerer off the top spot...yet. I think it has yet to grow on me, but I miss the progressive instrumental ambient freakout element. But thats just my personal cravings. I also miss the mango sorbet I had for dessert, but there is sweet funk all I can do about that. Dang!

Overall: 4 thumbs up! Out of a possible 2, so that is pretty good going. Yeah! I will surely keep it on my MP3 player for quite a while.
