hey everyone, time for something new!
since no-one except the funny little guy reacted to my announcement of a new animated video in my paintings thread, i'll give it an own thread. ha!

it's finished, see it here:

unfortunately, youtube has brutally f*cked up the quality. there's a lot more detail in the original version, which has tv format.

some background info: the video is for a new song of ours, "mindbomb", that might appear on our next record. most of it is animated in Moho, the 3d scenes as well as the boat were made in cinema 4d, the backgrounds were painted with acrylics on paper and afterwards enhanced in photoshop. the pineapples, sky and some landscape are made of photographs.

the painting took about a week, animating the whole salad took me 20 nights or so. that was a lot of work, but except for the singing and recording, i did it all on my own. yay indeed!

I like the drumming, what drumkit/samples did you use?

thanks for all the kind words! it was a hell of a lot of work, so i'm even more happy to hear that you guys dig it :D:D:D

the drum samples are from bfd, which seems to be an equal opponent to dfh. amazingly well recorded drums, and especially cymbals. try it oot!

the next project shall be another cartoon video for my other band, parity boot. check my signature to find their myspace. that will be my final exam for the graphic design training i went through in the last three years, so i have half a year to finish it. i already made a timetable for the whole project. storyboards and character design will start next week, and i plan to use two months for the animation only. i really wanna go for it this time. the pineapple video was the training piece, so to say.

I've always loved your stuff Ike, and this really takes the biscuit as far as Knorke are concerned! Seriously incredible stuff, left a very foreign fruity taste in my mouth =D.

EDIT: It's still leaving a foreign fruity taste in my mouth, as I am addicted to it.

yay yay ev'ryone :)
being in the middle of my biggest project so far makes me lose objectivity nstuff, so i turn to you with some screenshots and the question for some criticism. the song is "into nothing" by parity boot, check it out on their myspace, the link is in my signature.
these are four images from the first animated scenes. i don't have photos of the instruments yet (i want to use photos instead of drawings, for the technical details on guitars and drums will add lots of industrial feeling, and help raise the realism), so i only animated the parts without instruments for now.
enjoy!

the place where everything's going on:

our beloved singer, angrily whispering stuff into his computer:

some something-o-meters going deep into the red zone:

and the singer again, this time yelling:

i've got about one minute done by now, 2:42 left. still enough to do till march :)

This looks seriously excellent. Is the guy rotoscoped?

I am afraid I can't supply any healthy, objective criticism, as it looks totally pro for me. Waiting to see it in move.

lol i actually hd to look up "rotoscoscoping" so much for the professionality :D
no, all the characters are hand-drawn and animated. i guess that will be visible in the final video, so i gotta spend a lot of time on the animations. thanks for the interest :)
