Hey all,

Nearly finished my Alice In Chains answer to Hyperdrive, and was told to put it up here so you guys could hear it.

New version is up! Check the Soundcloud link in my sig for it.

Mix needs a bit more polish, and the backing vocals need to be fixed a little, but I'm quite proud of it. It's been recorded for part of my Uni recording portfolio for my last year along with a few tracks I'm recording for OCRemix (seriously, if you like games and/or music, check that place out - it's awesome).

If anyone has any thoughts or improvements etc, throw them at me. The point now is to get it as good as it can be before I submit it in May.

Thanks for checking it out,
Ian

Wow, not at all what I was expecting. Great cover. Wish I had something like that in my portfolio. :P

After the aforementioned polishings I think you'll have yourself quite the perfect piece!
Nice work! :D

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

I'll be sure to put the final version up when it get finished for ya.

I've got one of my singer friends round at the weekend, so I might have some epic female vocals on it soon too.

Hey man

First of all, I totally love what you did with the song. I'ts verry original, and you have nice arrangements.

It's only maybe one thing that bothered me a bit. In the first chorus you do some guitar licks weaving through the vocals. I like what you are doing there, but it's a bit early. If I was you I would keep the first chorus simple and clean. In the second chorus you can do some guitar stuff, but don't do to much, because it will interfere with the piano part.

But anyway, it's your song, and it's really great, it's just this little thing that might help you ;)

Good luck!

Greg

Thanks for the comments guys!

As far as the lead guitar is concerned, I think the majority of it is a balancing issue atm. It responded a lot brighter to the mastering set-up I have for it, and only began to notice it jumping out so much when I listened back in a better environment at uni. That said, I'm working on a new version with the female vocals in the lead guitar brought down.

Been a busy bunny musically of late - I've added some more stuff to my soundcloud (admittedly, some better than others), and I've got a lot planned for the inevitable gap between the end of uni and a job (namely an acoustic cover of Soundgarden's 'Beyond The Wheel' in a similar vein among other things).

Thanks again dudes!

I love your interpretation of it, well done! The Addicted version makes Hyperdrive a happy dancy song and this takes it completely in the other direction, full of melancholy. Very cool. :)

Thanks Swervy, I've been wanting to this version for as long as I've been in open C (which, admittedly, hasn't been as long as I should want!).

I've sorted out the issues with the other version, but I've found a couple more last night at Uni - mainly fade issues etc, so if all goes well today I should have the new version uploaded to my Soundcloud either tonight or tomorrow.

Also, had an awesome idea inspired by Feather last night....

Sit In the Mountain, but with this paddy acoustic vibe!

edit: New version is up now. Amended the OP for it too. Follow the Soundcloud link for it. I'm hoping this is the final version of it now!

Thanks all!
