Hey listened to it! Gotta say i love the layered vocals but the single track vocals are not as big sounding as i was hoping, the vocalist doesnt have the kind of voice i usually like, but i like what you've done with the extra guitars! it'll be intresting to see what else you do with the vocals, you still going to have some female vocals on the album??

Can i also add....

I got used to listening to motion as an instrumental so it may take time for the vocals to sink in to my extremely critical musical mind....

Yep.......we are still working on it. I am trying out a few different singers next week. None of this is set in stone, really. I don't expect everyone to love everything we do....for a minute it was looking that way, and I knew the vocals would be the most critical part. Can't please everyone....

You're doing so well with all of this so far Dan, its awesome :)

Its inspired me more to finally frickin' get my head down and write some serious music / start some serious projects. I've always wrote songs, putting lots of effort in, and starting projects (again, with lots of effort) but never really dedicating EVERYTHING to them, leaving them all unfinished. Now i've got my own studio though, Its given me the awesome oppurtunity to follow through and get things done.

I think I'll finish my experimental/industrial/chaotic/futuristic/dissonant project as my next thing. Concept album. Tells a made-up story (It was nice to break away from personal lyrics) similar to Resident Evil (films, not the game. Unless the story is the same?) - Except, not zombies, but an undercover coorporation funded by the corrupt government to spawn/breed/create weird mutated/super people (like nuclear weapons = greater power as a country, an army of weird advanced breeds would do the same)

Nothing special story-wise... and very VERY marmite musically (You'll either love it or hate it with bleeding ears).

But yeah, proud of you Dan :D It must feel awesome.

It does feel awesome...and...you are a weird one lol. I like the concept idea. It is different, and different is good!!

What is marmite?

I am glad I can be of inspiration to someone....ANYONE. For years all I did was piss people off, lie, steal, and build resentments against me for being such a lame, harsh dope fiend. It feels good to give back....thank you for listening, and trust me...there is MUCH more to come.

Yes. I am weird. I'm sure 95% of the people that know me (in person or over the net) have said/thought the same.

That good or bad? :) :(

Marmite:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmite

It had a slogan "You either love it or you hate it", because, well... People only ever loved it or hated it. Very rarely did people say "Yeah.. Its alright I suppose", so sometimes I refer to things as marmite. Opeth are a marmite band. Of all of my friends, those of use who like them, LOVE them, and the rest that (prepare for this...) don't like them, HATE them. (...I know...)

Like I said before....weird is good!!

I dunno about Opeth being marmite, because even though I think they are great...and have influenced me some, I have never bought any of their albums. So maybe just for me...they aren't marmite lol.

I am gonna start saying that around my friends now, and see what kind of weird looks I get. 8)

Thanx Aden.

I really doubt Opeth is love/hate. Purely because they have their chill songs too. Damnation. If we're talking just the stuff that could be regarded as heavy, then yes, it COULD be love/hate, though I still disagree with that. I'd say Meshuggah fits that description more.

Yeah, well.. I kinda meant just within my "circle of friends" they are very marmite. Meshuggah are the same, but less so (between my friends).

Meshuggah does fit the description, but I'd say that a band like Beneath The Massacre is really a love/hate band, lol.

There is a new blog on our myspace...but real quick-like, it just says that we started vocals for Gift, and they sound fantasticular. Terminus is coming along very nice, and I am working with Bob and Jeremy on the Motion verses to wrap it up by the 23rd for the Apparatus compilation. There is some other fun stuff going on as well. I have some clips of randomness that I will have Ryan upload to soundclick for ya'll tonight. Yippee!!!!!!!

I could only see someone hating Opeth if they hated both extreme metal and soft acoustic.

Can't wait to hear more from TOE...!
