HI!

Yes, I am still here...but where are the rest of my loops? I've only got a couple from a few people! I need MORE. MOOORRreeee1

Also, I still dont have much 'studio' set up as my spare room is still filled with lots of shite. Getting a shed in the next couple of weeks and will take it from there though.

Anyway...hang in there. It took me >1 year to sort out HDAS and that was when I had my gear set up!

Whoops yeah, I keep forgetting about this. I've got a couple of loops already though, mostly the same melody just with a couple of different samples and a few rhythms with a bit of variation between them. Been toying with some other samples tonight.. I'll get a nice collection together in the end. It's all fairly low-quality though, like better than MIDI but below real instrumentation.

I could send some loops over this weekend, because I don't know how far I should go with adding possible harmonies etc. I wouldn't want you to get stuck with nothing but incompatible loops. :)

Don't feel bad Dan! It's not your fault that you have ruined my life! (I kid, I kid!)

No hurries, no worries...but I am keen to see this to completion. If you finish a loop, send it to me. Don't worry about anything else. It would be great if everyone stopped everything else that they were doing and did whatever I told them to, but that's not very fair is it? Also, I am quite lazy.

At some point I will start working on the track. It will probably have a lot of incompatible loops...but then maybe I can make some ambient jazz glue to make it all work. It'll be great!

It would probably be good if people spent less time on making the loops 'good' also. A large collection of short length (2 repeats of the drum loop or so) and simple loops (eg one instrument) would be more useful than a small collection of 'high quality' bits of music that are more likely to be incompatible. Does that make sense?

Or, you can setup your studio in the shed, which saves you the effort of carrying all said shite out of the spare room into the shed outside. Probably a set of flights, too.

Well, you left us pretty much without any limits bar bpm and measure lenght, now you've got to suffer through any 30 minute piece of 4/4 120 bpm Berliner Philharmoniker supported stuff people will send ya.

Only 30 minutes? Awww, poo.

If you guys know anything about me at all then you will remember that I love the freaky stuff. So, throw it at me!

(no, not that freaky stuff...you will have to throw that elsewhere)

Yea I'm backing out. I'm getting really involved with recording my own stuff, learning to properly mix, etc. I will have a full album done sometime in the future though =D

Out of curiosity and laziness on my part, you wouldn't happen to have Modplug Tracker or a similar kind of program? That would drastically reduce the filesize of the loops I could send and I wouldn't even have to split everything into separate .wavs because it's all included with the tracker file. :)

You don't have to send wavs....MP3s would be fine! Its not going to be high fidelity, though I appreciate you dont want to degrade your hard work. What sort of file sizes are we talking anyway?

I dont have modplug tracker though I have heard of it (Josiah Tobin uses this I think....). I probably wont look into new software for this at the moment. Do you think it is something I should have a go with?

Nah, what you're using is probably a better program. I'm not worried about fidelity, I started with fairly low quality samples anyway. I'm just lazy. :D

Modplug Tracker is open-source, I think the download is less than 2 Mb and the file I have, which contains about 50 samples I've collected (not used them all for this project) over the years and the patterns/loops, is 750 kb. I have no idea what the file sizes of all the separated loops in mp3 format together will be, I guess I'll find out this weekend. :)
