Sounds incredible, Dan. If I may make one comment...the snare seems very quiet to me. Granted I am a proponent of a defined snare that helps to keep things in check rhythmically. But our styles are quite different ;)

Also your guitar playing is incredibly fluid and clean. Big kudos on that!

The waveform for my drums has the snare spiking quite a bit...I may just need to dial in some more high mids or something. I spent tons of time this past weekend really bogging down and going through my whole project file and mixing all the tracks as if it was how I would want my master to sound. Then, when you go to master...You really only need to slightly enhance things. I learned quite a bit from trial and error, and from a few respected people I know. Hi and Low pass filters are amazing when you know what they are for and how to work them. It took awhile to get here production wise, but the good thing is, now the rest of the album should be less intimidating because I know what to do. :D

And, thanks for the compliment.

It's been stuck in my head since I listened to it this morning. Love it. :)

kick ass song but i kinda agree about the snair, or maybe just the drums in general need to be a bit louder/ more prominent in the mix... just a suggestion from a drummer (albeit an unprofessional one that's never recorded before)

Hey dude,

I'm a little on the fence about the snare - I think it's about right. What's throwing it off a little for me is the hi-hat. I think if that was brought down a bit, it might help the snare cut through a little more.

Good job on the vocals man - I'm assuming your using your SM7, yeah?

Can't wait to get my hands on this for real man

Points taken. I appreciate it. I think I may just take your suggestions and implement them and replace the files I have posted. I kind of thought the same things, but I get so excited for peeps to hear it...my impulses take over. I'm trying to find the right blend between Superior drummer and Sonar session drummer sounds. The drum editing/mixing is so in depth now that I have to do it in it's own project file! UGH.

Sounds awesome. Just one thing: how about limiting the tuning of vocals? Even if it would result in vocals getting simpler. Every time I hear these weird artifacts I have a fantasy about autotune inventor lying on the bottom of the sea with a six ton anchor tied to his feet.

There is very little tuning on them. If I was to take it off, you wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference...maybe just that the harmonies and such would be slightly less than perfect. The most is that one part where I say "eyes"...and that was on purpose for effect. When you say weird artifacts are you referring to the effects and such? There is a difference you know.

Hey, I like it. That's all that matters.

If I REALLY wanted to destroy it with autotune, there would be no vibrato.

Sorry. Still trying to overcome being emo about criticism. :D

I've been meaning to listen to this.

I really love it, but I never expected you to use autotune at all to be honest.

Why not? Used for effect, or novelty....it's quite fun. I think it adds to the "blueness" of the music, but hey...if people aren't ready for it, I can't do anything about that. I hope I don't burn too many bridges with it, but I love taking risks and raping technology.

And actually I use melodyne on all my vocal takes to keep things in check, and the only autotune I use is on that "cher" style part. Melodyne is smooth and doesn't take away any of the natural characteristics of the voice. I would personally rather hear my takes perfectly in key than not. But don't think for a second that I didn't bust my ass doing 6779873953 takes getting it as right as possible. Melodyne just solidifies the process. Hope that clears things up.
