I think its just because smaller, shitty bands will sometimes spam a larger, better band's myspace with comments about how they love their tunes and how they should check out their lame music. If I remember right, the NIN myspace blocks band friend requests, too. Its all the crappy bands that ruin it for all the good ones, unfortunately.
