I just hope this isn't for a different project/"band" because it sounds identicle to TOP just with a higher tempo.

Nope....Abstracta will be Omega Experiment....just not part of the concept/album. It is a "goodie" for all you guys....free for download when it is done. I just wanted you guys to follow the progress. :D

Excellent! I am really looking forward to that. Abstracta was definitely the better of the two though both are of high quality.

Feeling very conflicted musically....but it is all coming into focus after a very confusing week or so. We are working on Terminus, and I believe I have started what will be "Karma". We will see. As far as Abstracta and the other song goes...it is all backseat material to our album, so....it will get done when it gets done lol. :)

We aren't sure what we will post next, cuz we are working on vocals for Gift, and another guy is coming over today....I am gonna test him out on a few things. PLUS, we have to finish demo-ing Motion by the 28th. SO.....hang in there?

:D

Ok, so Victor...the guy I tried out last night, sounds like a perfect mix between Devin and Hansi from Blind Guardian. It is wicked. He is the best singer I have tried out yet. I tried him on "Furor", and at first it sounded really weird because in my head I pictured Burton C. Bell mixed with SYL style Dev or something, but this guy brought me Working Man tribute (Natural Science) sounding Dev with a bit of Hansi. So, it took my drummer for my grind band to make me keep rewinding the chorus and pointing shit out...but now I LOVE it. He kept saying, "Are you sure you that isn't Devin Townsend??" LOL. He DOES have his own sound though....but there are eerie similarities...and he has never even heard of Dev before. I forsee great things. I will keep ya'll posted.

If you do, it will be prolly 20-25 seconds long....just the chorus. I will talk to Ryan about it....see what he thinks also. I am game.

MUCH of an improvement over the last vocalist. This fellow sounds more confident, in touch with the music and a hell of a lot like Devy! The layering sounds great. Over all MUCH better than Motion. How many people do you have trying out? Have you put adds in the local newspaper? Or fliers in a local gathering place? I am interested in the process you are going through to find these people.

Guy, I would have to say that so far you must be our number one fan!! It sure is flattering to have someone, anyone...count down how many minutes it will be till they hear your music. :D

Hmm...So far I have had so many different opinions on this clip. My friends are freaking out...in disbelief that this guy has been in hiding for so long. Other people I have known for a long time have picked apart the whole thing..."I don't like the first part, it sounds forced"..."But I like the 'little less inside' part"..blah blah. I was apprehensive at first, wondering whether he sounded right over the music or not. I have listened to it over and over again, and I am pretty sure we have found "the guy".

As far as other people, the main guy that sings in "Motion" is definitely on board to write with me. He is great...although he may not sing a whole lot. great voice, but not anything compared to Victor.

There are a few others in mind. I need a girl for Paramount, and maybe a few other parts in different songs. I have one in mind...

Hopefully Victor will be on board to be the "main guy". He is amazing, and has a wide range. The process has just been kind of "go with the flow". I met Victor at a meeting....Bob is an old bandmate and friend, Jeremy is a friend.....its just random.

That clip is extremely raw...I just took the wave file of Furor, loaded it into a new project file, then recorded vocals. This kind of makes it sound like he is on top of the music instead of PART of it. So...in closing, I love suggestions...but remember, this is all demo stuff and yes, we will eventually record the real thing with higher end gear and we will make it sound as spectacular as possible. We just want to keep you guys posted...hope you enjoy.

Much love and respect,

Dan

Well what can I say? I find something I like and I stick with it! The Omega Experiment has been the first music I have heard in a long time that actually makes me feel excited to hear it. I listen to a lot of music that I like and listen to more often than other music but I haven't had that gitty feeling in years of finding a new band/project and not being able to wait to hear the music... or more of it.

Actually I just found this band called Kalisia. Sort of a progressive death metal Dream Theater type thing. Their new album is absolutely fantastic and it almost brings me that excited feeling. I have to listen a few more times to see if it clicks.

Sounds to me like the project is turning out to be quite similar as, for example, Ayreon. Different vocalists playing different parts in the music. Maybe not to tell a "rock opera" story but just to capture the element of the song, piece, movement... whatever it may be considered. Very interesting ideas and if you have so many willing people on board and everyone clicks together without conflicts you could have a very good thing going on! The newest vocal test really gives high hopes. You were struggling to find a singer in the area and it is very discouraging. This fellow Victor seems to really find the music in his heart and with some more takes I am sure he would sound even better. Let him practise a bit more!

Except more awesome?

Probably since I find almost all of Ayreon to be boring...

+1, has same vibrato and stuff.

I like the Motion dude too, somehow reminds me of Mealz, one of the talented forumers (check Psalm86 from myspace for clean vocals), actually first thing I've though while hearing Motion was "wow, Dan teamed up with Mealz the Australian guy".

Anyway, either you have some sekrit kung-fu letting you make every vocal recording awesome or you're a l33t vocalist magnet.
