Acoustic or even electric, not fussed I really wanna know the correct way to play this....

I've been tinkering with it in OpenC as that seems to make the most sense.

however, after watchingthis:

I'm not sure that Dev is playing it in an open tuning at all

Might be wrong but, pretty sure this is a bit closer to the truth. The song is def in open C.

My 2 cents. Feel free to finger the low C and G strings only on the 2nd chord, as well as omitting the open G strings in the 3rd, 4th, and (sometimes, depending on the bar) 5th chord, as I think it is more accurate to how Dev plays it. I just let them ring though, as the G is either the root or the 5th of the chord, except of course in the G#5 in which case I have no idea what to call it, but it still sounds nice.

I prefer my picky interpretation though as it rings out better.
Yours is defo the way Dev plays it though

I got the bridge down for you, I haven't forgotten. Sometime this weekend when I'm not completely beat, I'll write it down.

I'm not a guitarist; I am a pianist, who has transcribed several of Mr. Townsend's works to piano. 'Ih-Ah' is one of them.

This is the basic chord progression that the verses and chorus use (not the bridge):

Amin, Fmaj7, C/E, Gsusp.

The opening riff is played as a constant stream of 8th notes and follows the progression above. If each comma represented a new measure, then this is what you would play:

A C E C A C E C, F C E C F C E C, E C E(8va) C E C E(8va) C, G C D C G C D C. ( Repeat, ad lib.)
