Conservatives
Anime
People who are dumber than I am

But my #1 annoyance now goes to writing a half decent sounding song.

It's never good enough.

Help.

Take a break from music. Read a book, watch a movie, go for a night drive or a scenic drive. Do something besides music and when you come back to it a few days later you will probably be a little more inspired.

something that really helps is to just sit down and program a song entirely electronically. like electronica music or something. once you don´t have the instrument to rely on, you only have ideas. it´s like cutting out the middle man. in order to make it sound good, the notes have to be interesting. if you try to make ideas by jamming with a distorted guitar, it´s easy to get hung up on chugging the lowest notes and all that stuff.

also, have a recording device handy at all times. like, if your cell phone has a recording function for memos, use it. whenever you have a musical idea, record yourself beatboxing the drums first or something, and then hum or sing the idea. that way you get it down before your brain farts it out.

then when you have a bunch of ideas, throw them into your computer (easier to sift through that way) and listen to them. pick out the good ones from the crappy ones, and then maybe record a short snippet of what that would sound like with real instruments.

that´s how i roll.

Problem arises when you're ending your programmed project, pick up your nasty, lowtuned, EMG loaded flying-V guitar and realize that it won't work very well with trancey music with four-on-the floor beat that somehow came up from your programming :)

What's wrong with being conservative? I like driving the speed limit...it saves petrol and it's safer to boot.

That's why I love Guitar Pro. Program everything in, and if you dont like how something sounds, change it!
