hey there, guys. :troubles:

Its been a bit tough trying to find people to join any kind of project here in australia if it is not mainstream enough, people dont wanna touch it.
since the hevydevy forums has a lot of cool peeps from australia, i thought i might give a shout out here to see if anybody is up for the task.

The project is industrial based, but also focusses on a hard rock and slight classical aspect. im looking for a vocalist (gender does not matter)
and keyboartist/programmer who may be interested in becoming a part of the project. the idea of it all, is to mix the old with the new, in some kind of hybrid of classical and industrial rock/metal.

some of my influences besides DT are Bjork, the smashing pumpkins, unheilig, enigma and fear factory, to name a few.
the project myspace is http://www.myspace.com/viralmillennium
please hit me up there or by email at viralmillennium@gmail.com

thanks a lot for your time guys 8)

the idea is simply creating music which people can get into. i kinda want to add more of a victorian edge to the music, mixing 19th century style classical music with heavy down-tuned guitar and harsh mechanical electronics. a lot of inspiration has come from the whole steampunk movement which seems to be gaining momentum nowadays.

firstly i'd like to get some more songs plotted out and recorded and then begin working toward live play. there are already a few venues willing to let this band play, when everything is set to go.

Damn, nice music... i would've loved to be part of it, but im a UK-ian.

I've got a relatively similar project going for myself at the moment. Im only in the composition stage but someday i'll be recording it either at my home studio i'll be buying, or at my University's studios (I'll be doing a Music Production degree around september next year).

Its very industrial inspired, with orchestration included, and some very dark/eerie/dissonant riffs etc.

Which is why i'd like to ask, which software are you using to produce the industrial beats? They sound exactly what i've been looking for in my music, but haven't got round to buying a software for them yet.

hey, i'd love to check your music out at some stage if your willing to share!

the application im currently using is FL Studio (yes, i heard some people out there groan as i mentioned it :P )
most of the beats i make, are through a virtual instrument called battery, using some specific drum kits, i sometimes render to wav and what i do to add the glitchy fx is slice the wav files up to make them stutter. another nice little additional thing i like to do is take some royalty free drum loops and beat slice them and subtly add them to the beats at lower volume, to give the drums an overall larger feel. (it also hopefully avoids the dreaded "ive heard that sample in another song, before!" scenario)
sadly, i dont have a studio to work with, all the music i do is just on a mid-range lappy and a 2 channel tascam soundcard but i try to make do with what i have 8)
hope it helps you out in some way!

god damn it! i sometimes think that sydney has run out of coolness and people either ran to melbourne or perth

What were you interested in doing? the keys or vocals?
I think with this project, it would be more of a labour of love, i cant see myself putting a show on in a seedy bar during "tranny tuesday"
most of the people asking about VM playing shows, are more at larger events (some of the venues actually being in melbourne) so there is plenty of possibility at this point :mario:

Ah cool, i had a feeling it might be Battery.

I was thinking of getting it, but i wasn't sure i'd be able to use it to get the sound i want, but obviously your music has just given me a better idea.

I use Native Instruments Symphonic Orchestra (Silver...) to do my orchestral parts, and Battery is an NI 'soft synth' isn't it... which is cool. I like NI.

Thanks for the info

Oh, and yeah i'd be happy to show you my music, but not for a little while (which could actually be a couple of years... lol). I've shown people audio files recorded from Guitar Pro before, and it just doesn't have a good enough affect on people. Like, i can make music in GP, and visualise in my head how it'll sound when recorded properly... but other people don't see what i see... so to them it just sounds average or whatever

We'll see anyway

I was thinking of vocals. im no good with a keyboard at any stretch of the imagination. http://www.myspace.com/whiteveins thats me on vocals and bass if you wanna take a listen. and yeah ive got another band playing bass as well as this band. so itd be pretty hard juggling em anyway. if you come to melbourne in the future though, id be up to support you guys or even jump on for a few songs if youre not repulsed by me. cheers mate
