Something I was working on today, a little different to the usual grindcore I post :)
Ends rather abruptly because I just didn't get any more done today but I have a good idea where it is going to head.
Not mixed, not perfect and not done!

Sounded cracking to me. Loved that clean tone, what gear are you using?

That's exactly the question I planned to ask. I guess it's something from POD XT (since I somehow often hear it from XT users), but what effects do it? Besides reverb of course. Sounds great, indeed.

Thanks!
It is indeed a podXT.
The clean tone I added some VST effects to in cubase, to get the deep thundery sound, and the reverb too.
The distorted tracks are also the podXT at the moment, but I plan on recording those tracks with the ENGL Powerball once the song is fully done.

Awesome, it sounds incredible. I'll definitely look forward to hearing the finished version of this.

Might take a while because I want to use my 8 string on the final version, and that hasn't been built yet (but is being built as we speak :) )

You're having an 8-string built?! Tell me more

gladly! :)
A German luthier called Siggi Braun is building it for me, I spoke to a few people and although he wasn't the cheapest we got on well when talking on the phone and he seemed to have similar ideas as me, so.

-Swamp Ash body, slightly darkened, high gloss (shape similar to this

Image

but I changed it a bit, made it "sharper" looking and made the bottom cutout deeper and obviously will be natural wood, not blue.
-5 piece Wild Maple bolt-on neck with rosewood strips (for strength): 28" 5/8 scale, 20mm thickness at 1st fret, 21mm at 12th; 55mm nut
-Ebony fretboard, no fret markers but a bar on the 24th fret with my name (73.5mm spacing i.e. 10.5mm per string)
-24 jumbo stainless steel frets
-Custom made bridge with piezo system by http://www.ets-hardware.com/
-Custom made, direct mount pickups by Harry Haeussel http://www.haeussel.com/ neck and bridge, coil tapping possible (he makes really awesome stuff, he made the first 8 string pups for blackmachine too)
-Headstock with matching swamp ash top and my signature one it. sperzel locking tuners
-Just a volume nob (push-pull for coil tap), no tone, and a pickup selector, piezo volume nob.
-security locks for the strap and all that jazz
-Siggi Brain also does an amazing bolt on system for the necks

Image

so you get amazing access to the top frets, with all the benefits of a bolt-on (no discussion there, for a heavy, ultra low tuned guitar, bolt-on is a must)

can't fucking wait, should be here in the next 2 weeks. I will post a gratuitous amount of pics when it gets here :)

Ugh, I can't tell you how despicably jealous I am :P

That looks amazing, not exactly what I'd have (why would it be?), but I love the shape. That''s going to be a beast 8)

I'm into silly stuff. I was very close to comissioning Shamray into building me a 7-string based on this http://www.musewiki.org/Image:7StringEManson.jpg, but in green/black burst finish. It was gonna have a z-vex fuzz factory built in, piezo on the bridge, sustainiac in the neck and a killswitch like Buckethead's white LP.

So yeah, it was going to be pretty ridiculous and OTT, but it's what I'd like - shame I can't afford it.

Yeah I wouldn't have had the pickguard included, it's a bit of a... well, a blob

And yeah, I'm a bit of an effects junkie :P

Hey fags,

seeing as I got my guitar now, and Superior Drummer 2.0, I did a little re-record of the song. This time with the ENGL Powerball running through a Palmer PGA-04 into the mixer via a Focusrite Octopre.
The intro is the piezos mixed with some magnetic.
The song:
