I am getting a band started in January called “Ocean Milieu” and I was just seeing what kind of reaction the stuff would get on here, please have a listen:

The tracks are only very ruff demo’s just me playing the guitar using shitty drum loops, but they give a idea of what were gonna try and do.

Devin is a huge influence on me (especially ocean machine hence the name of the band) and I guess the question I’m asking is does it sound too much like Devin?

Well, the Devin influence is there, and although my first impression is: "hey, a Devin Townsend sounding band!", there's nothing wrong with that. How many trash metal bands are there, who sound like Slayer or Megadeth?
Anyway, I like these instrumental demo's, but the vocals will define your whole sound after this.
Keep us posted on your progress...

thanks man, never really thought of it like that, I guess it’s because the dev is so unique that people are more likely to say "Devin copy cat"

Thrash metal, not trash! Sorry, kind of a pet peeve.

Swanny: These are pretty nice demos, but it does sound a lot like Devin. Birth sounds so close to Storm that I'd say it's probably going a bit far, but... that's up to you, really. You can obviously write a good song, but I'd try to focus more on developing a style of your own.

I agree with the Storm thing. Which is funny, because of the intro to the song.

I do agree with the storm - birth thing, it’s one of the reasons I posted on here before we start rehearsals. I’m gonna have to change the first 2 chords, or play it clean or something thing like that. I’m kind of hoping the songs will change as the other guys in the band have other inspiration mainly Tool Kyuss and Deftones

yeah, it's alright to show your influences but i think some of those song were a bit toooooo much like DTB,

But what's up with the reversed Mnemic-logo?

ive never heard of that Mnemic before, how freacky though, i made that logo in photoshop as a simple M inside a O. so that will have to be changed
