Matamp or THD
Posted: Wed Jan 12, 2005 12:34 pmI'm thinking of buying a new amp. It will probably be either a Univalve or Bivalve by THD, or a 1224 by Matamp. I'm kind of leaning towards the Matamp because they will let me get the cab finished how I like, I can have whatever I want added to it and they have been getting really good reviews. Only problem is that I won't get a chance to play a Matamp unless I go and visit the factory.
Does anyone have any experience of what they sound like? I know a lot of stoner bands use them, but I'd like a more 'classic' sound - brown sound, AC/DC crunch, Thin Lizzy, Vai/Satch lead sound etc. I don't really play a lot of metal myself (don't really know why) so that scooped tone isn't so important to me.
