So everytime I play for an audience, my nose starts to run like crazy. Pretty gross, I know, but more than
that, it's very, very, distracting. Having to sniffle every few seconds makes it really hard to concentrate.
I've tried cold medicine, allergy medicine, just about everything I can think of. It wouldn't be so bad if I played in
a band at loud volumes, but I usually play for family at weddings, funerals, ect. You know, quiet audiences with an
acoustic guitar.

Anyone else experience werid physical affects of stage fright? Beyond the usual butterflies in the stomach, I mean?
I'd sure like to be able to play and actually enjoy it for a change :) If anyone has any tips for me, I'd sure appreciate
hearing any suggestions. I'm playing at a neighborhood christmas party next week, and I'm considering buying some
nose plugs. :D

Thanks, everyone :)

Sometimes I get little tremors in the hands. I usually just act like it's not happening (it's harder to deal with when I'm playing piano stuff) and it tends to go away once I relax. Somehow I bet I'm not alone in this, though...

I've played a couple shows sick and know what it feels like to have a running nose in front of everyone. Pretty miserable. :(

i get nervous as fuck, especially cause i'm a drummer, and ANYONE notices drumming mistakes
But i tend to get really hyper and nervous before the rare occasions i get up onstage. First time i did it before an actual paying audience at a festival, i got tottally struck by a diarrhea strong enough to make me use the venue's male restrooms, which was actually scarier than doing the gig itself

PS: i'm sorry for the gross words, i just couldn't find any english euphemisms for "diarrhea" :P

I over analyze every detail of my body language, playing, and appearance. Then I start getting these thoughts in my head of what the audience must think of me, and it slowly leads me to play worse and worse because of these thoughts. But then, towards the last few songs, I just go "fuck it" and rock the shit out of them. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME.

Does anyone get extremely sweaty hands or feet?

I've already got really really sweaty hands, which is gross on it own - but before performing or being in front of lots of people - I sweat like a motherfucker. Looks like someone sprayed my hands with a hose. It's nasty - and that makes bass playing difficult

Since we're already on the topic, I was wondering if anyone knew if Mikael Åkerfeldt has some sort of stage fright? Because a friend of mine told me that he takes some pillsies to calm him down before shows, and from what I've seen of him live (especially Roundhouse) he seems like he's flying high.

Just practice with wet hands. :D

Should make your slides sound awesome.

I hadn't heard that - but I guess I'm not totally surprised. He doesn't seem like the type to live for the lime light. He seems like a shy and polite little Swedish man
I wonder what kind of pills?!

Oh I don't have any choice - my hands are always sweaty xD
It does work for slides, even more so since I play fretless bass :D

I thought Mike did a fag and 2 shots of whiskey before every show. Never heard anything about pills.
