Wendy Dio, wife/manager of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.

"Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.

"We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us.

"Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss.

"Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."

Christ. He fought a brave fight.

All my best wishes to his nearest and dearest, I was so hoping he'd be well enough for Bloodstock, before all H&H's dates got pulled.

A sad day indeed.

I heard about this earlier, it's terrible. I mean, this is the guy who invented the devil horns, for christ's sakes. A guy who frolicked around in woods with funny clothes and swords before the black metallers took to it. RIP. :(

What a shitty end to a shitty day!

RIP

I told my girlfriend that the news was sad. She was like "So? You where not a fan of him anyways"

I just "eh..if I was to write down a list of my 20 favorite vocalist he would be on it"

She just "Uh.."

Sad news..

(anyone ever noticed dev`s vocals on Vampira btw? :D )

My first real concert was headlined by H&H, and I was lucky enough to see them again the next year. Was never a huge fan but much respect, he was a man who never had to pretend he was someone he wasn't...he was DIO
