Going. Getting VIP if I can, need to save. Need to get box set first, though. Ah, the joys of a stiped...

I'd suggest maybe hotelling it as well. It'll be more expensive, but its not worth your stuff getting damaged/stolen/etc

Wanna wrangle me in as press too? :D Haha :P

I'll be there.

It's amazing how many people don't actually go to festivals to have a few beers, roll around in mud, have lots of fun and headbang for a bit. I mean, that's the whole difference between a normal gig and a festival for me.

Maybe I'm just a bit of a whippersnapper, but I couldn't imagine ever going for a hotel, or even VIP at a fest.

Anyone care to shed some light besides liking to have a shower and not wanting expensive gear knicked?

Ta guys

It's just the expensive gear, I already had to claim for my previous one on insurance last summer, I can't afford to loose it! I was in VIP for Download '06 and it was awesome, cause I got to mingle with band people :D Although I think the most famous people I met were Ginger and Phil Jupitus :P All the REALLY famous people were hidden away from the scummer bands!

I completely agree. The gang I was with at Hove festival 09 want to stay at a hotel this year, I think that'll remove some of the whole experience for me. After 5 days of constantly drinking and not having showered once... My legs were literally black with dirt on the way home, my left ear was 200% inflated size because I got sunburned (imagine that sight with my already funny ears), when I got home in the shower I almost clogged the whole thing. I miss it so bad. :(

Got my weekend ticket :)

Going on Thursday, early as possible.

The teepee things really are pretty cool. Quite a few people have their own ones that they bring into the "peasant zone" with us commoners.

CANNOT WAIT!

I agree with all the talk of camping experience being part of the whole enjoyment of the festival. I don't give a shit if I look awful, feel filthy, or have had the worst night's sleep of my entire year.. it's all worth it.

My friends are considering renting a camper van for this year's, though. Not sure what I think about that. I might pitch a tent just next to it, to preserve the festival feeling. 8)
