Ok when i grew up i idolized comic heroes. Particularily Batman and Spawn (event though my parents wouldnt show me any Spawn) only problem was that i worshipped them by watching the animated TV shows. i feel like i missed out alot with comics until i saw Watchmen and got the graphic novel for it from being blown away by the movie. now i need a bigger fix...
im thinking i should pick up a few Batman novels. from what ive seen on the net i should get Year One, The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum. ive had some interest in getting Tank Girl novels and Maus too.
So yeah i guess can anyone give me any advice?
also discuss away.
ITS A NERD BONANZA ladies and gentelmen

Maus is wonderful.
I'm not a huge DC guy, grew up Marvel, but I'm super into the independent scene and so if you want any recommendations in that field I could go on for days.
For now I recommend The Walking Dead and Bone.
Both on the completely opposite sides of the spectrum, and both are wildly enjoyable.

I'm currently reading From Hell by Alan Moore. Tis a masterpiece of the genre I tells ya!

Pretty much anything with Alan Moore's name on it is worth buying. From Hell, Watchmen, V for Vendetta most notably.
Neil Gaiman's Sandman series is pretty 'must-read' IMO.
The Complete Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and Fat Freddy's Cat compilations should be required reading in schools.
Pretty much anything where you liked the film adaptation, the comic book will kick its ass: Hellboy, Sin City, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Akira, and Lone Wolf and Cub all spring to mind. Probably if you thought the film sucked you may find the comic book is pretty fantastic as well.

I used to be SO into comics when I was little...but I was kind of lame I guess. I didn't get into the obscure shit. I liked Wolverine, Punisher, X-Factor and X-men...Batman was cool too.
Don't know what happened....grew out of them, and into my guitar (thankfully?).

Read the Preacher series. It's teh awesomes.
Also, Hellblazer is good - just don't watch the film with Keenoo.
And ity's kinda obscure, but if you can find a copy, there was a short comic series called Squalor - it's probably my favourite of the lot.

We should create a thread dedicated to this...why do you think he won't be back? I sure miss the guy. He is like a human encyclopedia...

No need for a thread. He's overcoming a self-proclaimed internet addiction and thus spending less time online.

Haven't read tank girl.
Would recommend anything written by Garth Ennis. He rules.
Warren Ellis rules too.
Anything drawn by Jacen Burrows, because he rules.
Cable and Deadpool by Fab Nicieza (i think thats the guys name). You may have guessed, it rules.
