"Early" is a light way of putting it. If this thread were a thanksgiving turkey, we'd all have salmonella.

Forget the negative naysayers, dude, some amazing albums have come out this year and it's a worthy thread. AND I'm a vego too!
In fact, I don't even know where to start!
PT: The Incident
Devin: Ki
Karnivool: Sound Awake
Jen Cloher: Hidden Hands
Exivious
DT: Black Clouds...
Empyrean: Quietus
OSI: Blood
Derek Sherinian: Molecular Heinosity
Deadlock: Manifesto
Cradle of Filth: Godspeed...
Still to come: Alice in Chains, Dead Letter Circus, Addicted?
Damn, it's gunna be hard to pick a top 10 this year!

Best in 2009 so far, in my humble opinion are...
1. Devin Townsend "Ki"
2. Megadeth "Endgame"
3. Sepultura "A-Lex"
4. Born of Osiris "An Ascent"
5. Disharmonia Mundi "Nebularium"
The list can change. Still long way to December.

No order really... Just a few that immediately sprung to mind.
Dev - Ki
Final - Reading all the Right Signals Wrong
Final - Guitar & Bass Improvisations 3 / Infinite Guitar 3
Animals as Leaders - Animals as Leaders
Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Cloudkicker - The Map is not the Territory
Cloudkicker - Portmanteau
As for worst. I dunno. I've gotten lazy in terms of reaching out to music in the last while. I just read around every now and again, see what sounds like summat I'd like, YouTube it, etc etc. So every album I've got this year has been one I know I'll like.

It's early (in the year and in the morning). First thoughts--I'll come back later...
Best:
1. DTP - Ki
2. Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Worst:
1. Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings

1. Alestorm - Black Sails at Midnight
(incredible catchy-ness beats Ki, but Devin is preparing a huge counterattack

)
2. The Devin Townsend Project - Ki
3. Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings
I didn't expect this to be this addicting! Some parts are really silly, but other parts are fantastic.
4. Sonata Arctica - The Days of Grays
(might swap with #3)
5. Darm Moor - Autumnal

The Born of Osiris album is A Higher Place

and it's definitely a good one!

I need to get some Karnivool, stuff they have on myspace is sweet. Which also reminds me I still have massive Cog records shortage.
I wont post any list here, I don't listen to that many musics. I'm taking notes what to listen tho

Best:
Dev - Ki
Anaal Nathrakh - In the Constellation...
Muse - The Resistance (yup, I love it)
Napalm Death - Time waits for now slave
Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Wolves in the Throne room - black Cascade
Clutch - Strange cousins from the west
Isis - Wavering Radiant
Disappointments:
Riverside - ADHD (it just bores me, can't help but it does)
Hacride - Lazarus (bores me too. I don't see where this is special by any means)
Pure Reason Revolution - Amor Vincit Omnia (just terrible. What were they thinking?)
Behemoth - Evangelion (no, I'm not saying it's bad. It's good..but not more than that. It's certainly not the milestone that Nergal promissed either. I had high expectations for this and yes, it is brutal and whatever but there is hardly anything memorable on this CD, alas...and that is coming from a huge Behemoth fan)
I'm sure there will be more good and not so good ones over the next few months!

I agree with the Behemoth. It's no Demigod by any means.
But I love the new Hacride, tis groovy as fuck and has their signature sound all over it.
