I probably could of picked a better name, but hey oh well.

I have just been pondering all about life and such like... And was curious to other peoples thoughts on life and such like. So I thought I would start some discussion/debate/random screaming fits(Hopefully not ) about it.

So, for example, I am firm believer in Karma. Sometimes to the point where I am afraid of it. I believe everyone has a soul. Whether its 'tainted' or nae, I guess is a different kettle of fish, but I do believe in reincarnation. Some people I've met before, and its just like, they already know the entire world and have walked on it before. While some others seem like a new born into the world.

I'll leave it at that for the moment and see how the thread develops

I've been on other forums where a post like yours would have been picked apart and thrown back at you in the worst way possible.
That being said, this is probably the friendliest music forum around!

Yeah I know. But I kinda presumed people here would be (mostly ) mature enough to have a discussion/debate about life and whatever.

I thought it a interesting subject, if nothing else.

I am a firm believer in the law of attraction. The good things I need/want just come to me now and I can't remember the last time I had a bad day. I sometimes see people complaining constantly and telling themselves they can't do things (?!) and it just baffles me. I never would have noticed when I was the same way, though.

I'm a here and now kind of person. If things are good, then good, if they're bad, then fine, I'll roll with it and try to turn it as I do. That being said, I can't remember my last bad day either.

Though I do have a tendancy to not particuarly plan ahead, much to the frustration of my mother.

That's cool Josiah. I sorta believe in it too, but it only seems to happen if I am in a good mood. I guess it's the whole you attract the energy you give out theory. Like if you're in a bad mood, you attract negative things towards you.

Although, ever get in a really good mood, but awfully clumbsy along with it? that's called the "smashing attraction" (cause I decided so ) I managed to break a cup and plate in the same accident, which was kinda impressive


Anyone believe in ghosts/spirits and such?

I think these theories and ideas seem really cool, but to me they only seem to conform to each individuals personal interpretation of that particular idea. i.e. Josiah's belief in the law of attraction or Ambers belief in karma. In more detail, a persons belief in a belief would dictate their actions even on a subconcious level toward that belief and so their lives would pan out according to that belief. If you get my drift

And call me a realist or a sceptic or whatever but I can not and will not believe in 'ghosts' until I see one with my own eyes and recieve an acceptable explanation for what I might see. Translucent images floating around through walls seems very very unrealistic to me. If 'ghosts' existed I think there would have been some evience of it by now. Science is alot farther ahead than we may think and it is most definately capable of detecting the presence and aftereffects of an invisible spirit.
Also, I don't know if anyone in any other country has a program like this, but in the UK we have this show called 'Most Haunted'. It's the most overblown, ham-acted piece of propaganda drivel I have ever seen. Two overpaid presenters and a camera crew go into the basement of an abandoned, un-insulated house built of stone and say 'oooh it's cold there must be ghosts!!' They enter houses that have been undisturbed for decades and then when the place starts collapsing around them i.e. bits falling from the ceiling, drafts moving small objects across the floor, they get all scared and screamy thinking that dead people are the cause of things that are simply explained by lack looking at the neglect of the building they're in. It's ridiculous! No such thing as ghosts. But there is attention seeking media personalities haunting our quiet villages looking for fame and fortune.

Sorry, I appear to have gone on abit of a rant there. But to be concise, no I don't believe in ghosts or spirits.

And I think we make our own histories based on the beliefs and opinions we have, and our lives change as our beliefs and opinions evolve.

Oh, and 'Most Haunted' is the biggest pile of... -ahem- I've ever come across! Although, if you pay close attention it does say its for "entertainment purposes only." Now that says everything.

I do however believe in ghosts. I've had quite a few experiences with them, that I can't just shrug off. Including one pinning me down and talking to me, which was HIGHLY strange. I realise I may sound crazy. By the same hand though I can fully understand why people wouldn't believe in them. It's very much so something you have to experience yourself to believe in. My mums a paranormal investigator as well, and seeing how she comes back from some of these 'ghost hunts' (like a realistic version of MH , there really is no way you can explain some of the stuff she sees/feels/hears. I've seen her come back with bite marks and scratches, and one her whole personality changed for a few days after being stuck while stuck in a mental room for half an hour. I can understand obviously being stuck in a mental patients room in pure darkness with no contact isn't going to help things, but afterwards she said she heard voices and foot steps all night, like nurses. (it was an abandoned mental hospital. WHY she decided it would be a cool idea to stay there the night is beyond me, but she had people there too so that's okay.)

But yeah I realise that's rather hard to believe. It is definitely something you have to experience yourself.

Alucard: I'm currently packing for an intercity move tomorrow so I'm unemployed at the moment, but up until recently I worked on a farm half an hour out of town. I woke up every morning at 5 am, walked to the bus stop in the cold, took the bus to the mall where I transferred to another bus that ran me way out to the farm, where I would receive conflicting instructions on what to do all day and alternately be praised and berated for doing what I was told. No stress. I loved being out there on the farm regardless and would look forward to each day. I don't complain about stressful things and they don't follow me. I don't mind if your views differ but this is what helps me live a happy life.

If I do get what you're saying, that is kind of how the law of attraction works, really... Unless you mean the person subconsciously makes ordinary decisions to bring them closer to what they believe, but in this case things don't really work that way. I suppose you could choose to see meaning in the smallest thing and misinterpret it to fit your belief (is that what you're saying?) but even that could still be called a version of the law of attraction so... I'm confused. This is becoming a bit of an incomprehensible loop for me

Also, Josiah, lucky you! My job is miserable and it's quite hard to find another job right now making enough money to pay for my vehicle...

Haha I described it wrong. The...being? itself didn't actually pin me down. I couldn't move because I was freaking scared! I wish I could remember what it said. It was actually really positive. O.o

This is not philosophy, it's theology. So, theologically, I'd have to say that there is nothing beyond reality as it is experienced. There is no supernatural--no soul, no spirit, no karma, no god. Data can be strewn into whatever pattern you (general) like in order to delude yourself with thoughts of karma or universal balance, but in the end it's due to the random interplay of all things physical. I don't mean to be insensitive, but the human mind is not a perfect measure of reality, and there are plenty of things which may seem to exist (ghosts, god, etc.) that are totally nonsensical and imaginary.

The interconnectedness of everything is, however, more indelible in a purely natural worldview than in that of a religious or spiritual quality. And man's moral sense of good and evil? There is no good; there is no evil: things are as they are and this incredibly imperfect, vaguely rational chemical collection that is the mind filters perception based on evolutionary traits and subconscious experience. It's a heap of association. Objectivity? Incomprehensible and unattainable--no one can separate experience from reality, since all knowledge of reality is grounded entirely in experience.

The role of man: nothing. He exists because he is the product of billions and billions of chance particle interactions which provide a reasonably favorable environment for his existence. Compared to all that which surrounds him, he and the entire collection of life on Earth are relatively insignificant. Pressure's off, ladies & gentlemen: enjoy consciousness.

Reality is beautiful.

Agreed on that last sentiment, but personally I don't think anyone can claim to know enough about reality and the universe to dispense any absolutes.

Not long ago I was dreaming about a Giant Robot attacking me and as I tried to escape it, I sort of lied down in a hiding spot-Then I changed locations and was looking outside of my room but the robot was still there-I was still dreaming while awake! The brain does very interesting things when you sleep-it makes a lot of sense how people "see" ghosts or aliens...

Philosophy wise I think its important to point out that all we know is what our senses tell us. That being said, anything is possible-I've often had the thought,"What would our technology be like billions of years from now?(If we some how survived)-Could God be some programmer with the universe stuck on his hard drive somewhere?" Or it could be completely plausible that there really is no point and we just rot when we die.
However, I've experienced some amazing things in my time. For example: My mother's co-worker ,who I barely know, was involved in a dream I had. In said dream, she was chasing a little blond girl-her daughter- in a fun house/maze type setting but before she could get to her the little girl vanished. Two weeks later I heard the news that my mother's coworker had had a miscarriage. "Coincidences" like that occur every day. Seems hard to believe existence came from nothing-how can infinity have a beginning? There's just so many questions that neither science nor religion can answer. I just hope the life I lead may be filled with moments of joy and love.
