Didn't see this coming. :( But they've got a replacement already. http://www.opeth.com

New album will be interesting. New drummer, new guitar player, new keyboard player... I'll be hoping but not expecting much from the new CD. :(

I'll always have good memories of Peter though. I got to interview him a while ago, great guy :)

Damnit, that was one bad cat on the six string.

Didn't see that coming either...

Fredrik Ã…kesson seems to have more of an hard rock background.

We'll see, but I'm pretty positive he'll sound great. I don't think Mr.Ã…kerfeldt could choose a less than great musician for his band.

This is a bit sad, but at least they are still on good terms. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to see Peter with Opeth for the first and last time in Strasbourg a couple of months ago.

I don't know anything about Fredrik Ã…kesson, but John Norum is one of his "friends" on Ã…kesson's myspace page, so that's good enough for me. Norum is your new god, boys and girls.

Ghost Reveries is a fine album and I don't think Opeth will lose a step.

That's kind of lame, although I think Opeth could use the line-up changes to add a new dimension to their sound.

I honestly think it was his band to begin with.

That sucks, but I think the new album will be good because I really enjoyed Ghost Reveries.

My favorite bands are slowly disintegrating.

It's a trick, he's joining Johan Langell to find 2 others to make a progressive supergroup :(!!

Me too. The others add their influence but I think that Mikael is the main force behind it.

Argh... that sucks! They're not really "Opeth" any more, in a "band" sense. But as you guys say, Opeth the creative entity seemed to be very much driven by Mikael, with input from the others. I'm looking for a change of direction from Opeth anyway, so maybe this will trigger it.

I was hoping he'd join up with Martin Lopes (previous Opeth drummer) again?
