Kinda random
Massachusetts metallers UNEARTH have parted ways with drummer Mike Justian. The group's official statement on the matter reads as follows:
"Last night [Thursday, May 10] marked the end of the line for Mike Justian with UNEARTH. There are many reasons why we decided it was time to move on without him, but we are not in the business of airing dirty laundry. We will say that we grew apart as individuals and as musicians and the split will be best for both the band and Mike.
"In true UNEARTH fashion, we will continue on without skipping a beat. We are pleased and honored to say that Gene Hoglan of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD is filling in for the rest of our tour with DIMMU BORGIR, DEVILDRIVER and KATAKLYSM. He will take the stage for the first time with us tonight in Vancouver, B.C. Gene is an unreal musician and has learned a set in extremely short notice. We cannot thank him enough for lending his skills to our band for this tour.

Pretty cool. A man's gotta work! Unearth isn't that bad. Typical metalcore, but decent enough.

A new Zimmer's Hole album has been rumored for a while now, maybe it will actually come

I read that on Unearth's bulletin on Myspace, and I was really suprised..I like Unearth, but they definitely don't seem br00tal enough for Gene. Either way, that really makes me want to see them live, to see if he changes any of the drum stuff..or speeds up.

I never really looked too much into Unearth, but their song "Zombie Autopilot" is pretty tasty.

For what they do, they're the best. The only other "metalcore" band that comes close is Killswitch Engage circa "Alive Or Just Breathing." Other than that, the most recent two Unearth albums have been some of the best metalcore out there. It's just that genre gets too old too fast. It's kinda predictable.
And no, Lamb of God and Shadows Fall aren't metalcore.

This didn't suprise me too much when I read it yesterday. He's big on the session drumming. I wish that I went last night just to see how Gene handled it all.
