New Type-O Negative Album "Dead Again" thoughts

Anyone got it yet? I picked it up yesterday. I pretty much hated it on the first listen, but now I'm up to my 4th listen and it's growing on me pretty nicely. I think these guys have re-invented themselves over the last 2 albums and this new one refines their style. Unfortunately I want them to go back to their Bloody Kisses/October Rust style. That was the peak for me of what these guys were offering. With this one I kind of felt they'd done a bit of a St. Anger - made a record out of riffs and parts rather than coherent songs. Maybe that's a bit harsh as their songs have always been epic. I just thought it was a bit more unified in the earlier days. What do you guys reckon?

I really like it... but it did take a few listens for me as well.

October Rust is still my favorite, though. That's gonna be hard for
them to top that. I thought Life Is Killing Me was great, too.

I don't know, Dead Again has some faster songs on it, and i prefer
the slow stuff, but it's still good. September Sun is a beauty of a song.

One of the most unique bands out there, for sure. I love em.

Loving the new album.

Didn't realise that Pete spent a year in prison!

Just got the album... I haven't listened to it very much yet. Sounds a little fragmented at first impression, but also quite catchy and fun. It's hard still getting over the magnificence of October Rust.

Really really good, I'm loving it. I lost track of them after October rust for some reason, so this was quite a jolly discovery.

The first two songs took me by surprise, got me thinking of Misfits and Offspring(!!) in an unholy mix, haha... I love how they mash riffs and ideas up with no "rules" what so ever. Heavy doom parts that suddenly change to groovy riffing, chants, marching music and what not.

Prison you say? For what?

Prison? I never heard that. Sounds like a typical Type-O Negative rumour - like the on last year that Pete was dead, lol.

It was actually only a month. There's a really awesome interview with him in the new Revolver.

He stated in the magazine it was against a romantic rival. 20 some counts of assault and battery. That was after the stint in a Psych Ward and right before Rehab. He's had quite the couple years!

I love the new album. It took me a while to get into it too, but now I can't stop listening to it.

I just saw them on Monday night and it was awesome!

I love it. The album is amazing. I like it more with each listen and the album has lived in my car's CD changer for the past week and a half.
