If I'm pessimistic I'll die on Thursday, December 6, 2040 (Age 50)
If I'm sadistic I'll die on Friday, January 8, 2027 (Age 37)

What a load of ol' shit...

Cardiovascular diseases are the most fatal, seemingly. Followed by heart disease, cancer, cerebral diseases, respiratory infections, AIDs and pulmonary disease. They're the ones that've been clocking it up constantly. It's fucking unbelievable to think all these people are dying. Right now. Becoming numbers. And I'm sitting at my computer, watching them.

I met Professor Ian Frazer a few months ago (that's my gratuitous name-drop for today). He was Australian of the year for 2006 as he and his (sadly now deceased) colleague discovered a vaccine for the Human Parvo Virus that causes cervical cancer, killing around 250,000 women each year. If that only prevented half of all new cases, that's 125,000 women saved every year. Needless to say, when met him I was more starstruck than I've ever been when meeting any "famous" person.

If only we could discover vaccines for other cancers.

And get people in the West to eat less junk and move more.

And provide basic health care and nutrition to all human beings instead of buying super yachts.

Or I could just fuck off...
