Was very glad to read this today.

Whatever they come up with I will surely give it a listen. As interesting as them getting 'back' into the heavy stuff is, I really hope they take the progressive (in the album sense) influence from C33 and I on to the next album also.

also I hope they still have some clean guitar atmospheric stuff. I really like how that was used on Catch33

 For me as well.

People's opinions vary to a huge degree about which album seems to be Meshuggah's best, and while DEI seems to have a bit of a larger 'fanbase', I still prefer "I" over anything else they've released.

I'm not sure what it is, but most Meshuggah fans I've talked to have had this horribly pretentious air about them, completely refusing to accept the concept of opinion and the fact that someone may not like their favorite band. Not to generalize, but for some reason that seems to be what I've generally encountered.

that clean tone is a line 6 preset :P

DEI i think is overrated. i think their later releases beat it. DEI can drag out for so long sometimes and just bores me

DEI has some of their best songs, though. I'm not sure what my favorite is. They're all great. Except "I", I didn't like that one...

What, no love for Contradictions Collapse? It's a hard-rocking-all-out-bombastic-thrash-a-thon!

They are all good though, in their own special ways. Awwww.

CC used to be my favorite, actually... Before I 'got' "I".

While 2006 had a ton of new releases that rocked, 2007 looks to have a smaller amount of new stuff (that matters), but it'll make up for the quantity with nothing but quality

I am beyond stoked for new Meshuggah, that is going to make this summer brutal

But I am- I mean "I" is a masterpiece! No album Meshuggah has ever made, or will ever make, will be a masterpiece. Just me- "I"!

Confusing title though :P
