Neurosis Related Music

Like Devin, the members from Neurosis seem to like the challenge of creating music in various forms. The two guitarists/ singers Scott Kelly and Steve Von Till have already released solo records, mainly based on acoustic instruments with songs in the singer/ songwriter-style. I started a thread about Von Till some time ago... searching... ah yes:

http://www.hevydevyforums.com/phpbb/vie ... e+von+till

The links still work, and who hasn’t heard “To The Field”yet, should use this oppurtunity now. I rarely use superlatives, but this song certainly has its place among the greatest musical experiences I ever had.

You can get an overview of all those projects – along with other interesting bands – at the site of their own label:

Just about two weeks ago, I downloaded a song from Red Sparowes – with Josh Graham from Neurosis (where he is responsible for the visuals of their albums and during concerts) and Bryant Clifford Meyer from Isis on guitar. Truly amazing:

If anyone else wants to recommend a Neurosis related band or share your thoughts on the ones mentioned above... Do it here

And maybe this time more than three of you will answer

I LOVE Steve Von Till's 'If I Should Fall To The Field'...his voice is sooo chilling! I also checked out Blood & Thunder which is pretty good too. Bee & Flower are on Neurot and that one Album by them that I know is really cool too! I'm looking forward to the new Red Sparowes Album, their last one was really cool.

I highly recommend Tribes Of Neurot!

Listening to Tribes of Neurot's Grace at the same time as Times of Grace = omgorgasm. I find both Steve Von Till and Scott Kelly's solo work depressing, and not in a good way like Neurosis is. You're definitely right about Red Sparowes, I think that their new album is even better than their last one too.

^I've yet to do that. Is there a place where I can download both of them just overlapped?

Yeah the Times of Grace/Grace simultaneous listening experience is fucking amazing. We did it after seeing Coldplay a few months ago :D Tribes do some amazing stuff.

Most bands on Neurot are very good as well. My favourite besides the obvious choice is Grails. They're like a really sixties flavoured dark psychedelic band with elements of sludge and drone.

I haven't heard Scott Kelly's stuff but I am a big fan of Steve Von Till's Fields album.

Guys, putting both on one track sort of takes away from the whole point of the thing...

I think this won't be new to most of you, but since this is the right place for it - a short quote from the Neurosis camp:

NEUROSIS heads to the studio!

Neurosis will enter the studio in December to record their next album. Once again they will be returning to Electrical Audio in Chicago with engineer Steve Albini.

The sounds emanating from the rehearsal room are frighteningly strange and not very nice.

What does this mean, "not very nice"? Are they going through a huge image change and won't be our favourite happy melodic punk-band anymore?

It still sounds better than either album on its own.

I will now make a super-advanced prediction that Neurosis's new album = best of 2007.

From their official site:

Neurosis is about to hit the studio in Chicago with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio. The first tone goes to tape on December 27th, and the album will be wrapped up before the live dates in California in mid-January.
