Hey, I've been looking for some nice anime but can't find great ones...
My fav are: EVANGELION, ELFEN LIED, VISIONS OF ECAFLOWNE.
If someone knows an anime that is similar to one of these, list it here!

(of course, I'm only looking for some japanese audio with english subs...)

Well, I liked Elfen Lied too. I think it's the only anime that I've watched the whole series of. If you want something completely insane, go with Bobobo. That stuff will make your head spin.

If you haven't seen the movie Akira, you need to.

Akira is the holy grail when it comes to anime!

I like Ghost in the shell too, Cowboy bebop, Trigun, Gungrave...
They are all nice, but they don't have the "magic" from the Top 3 I have referred in my first post.

Hentai is killer, has a laugh factor of 800.

I'm prone to cowboy bebop (sounds bent but isnt, to quote letterman "i'm so old i remember when cowboys weren't gay.). Also full metal alchemist, its has robots nazi's & dragons. Roar.

I've liked a few series and films. Miyazaki films are great, obviously. I enoyed watching Cowboy Bebop and RahXephon and stuff.

Manga I'm a little more interested in. Death Note is great.

Ghost in the Shell II is one of the greatest films I've ever seen, anime or not. Same goes for Perfect Blue.

I see I've found my new favourite thread. Actually, all of the other forums I go to are anime forums.

For one thing, while some anime DOES fit the stereotype of "hentai without the sex", most of the series I've seen are either light-hearted and funny (think a Japanese "The Simpsons", only with more of a plot), or completely deep and thought-provoking. The series I'm into at the moment is The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya, a story about a high-school girl who starts a club to look for the mysteries of the world... but it would turn out that the girl is somewhat of a mystery herself. There's light-hearted comedy, a little fanservice (and tell me that no American cartoons or TV shows marketed to teens contain any of that), and some depth to the plot. My favourite series actually contains very little fanservice. Azumanga Daioh, which is sort of like an anime version of Seinfeld, just a slice-of-life series about 7 high school students and their everyday situations.
