BIG fan here!

Well, they only have 3 albums, so thankfully its not too hard to recommend things.

My personal favourite is their 2nd release 'El Cielo'. This album is in a similar, if a little extended, style to their first...but with a huge and detailed production that their debut was lacking. I always think of it as a distant cousin of Terria (yes, it's that good).

Their latest album 'Catch Without Arms' is also very, very good. It is kind of the case that their 2nd was so good that it was always going to be very hard to top. Needless to say, this is an awesome album. I would rate it far higher than the first ('Leitmotif').

I think in another thread that I compared this band to the DTB, and hopefully you make that connection also.

I also know that a certain Mr CardDinour was lucky enough to see the guys live and also meet them afterwards! Jammy mango that he is!

Love them! Pretty big fan...I've seen them live, met them, and had "Catch Without Arms" signed.

Personally, my favorite is CWA, their newest album. It's rather different from "El Cielo," which is why a lot of fans are probably a bit alienated. It's a lot louder, but I don't think any less structured or artistic.

All of their albums are essential however.

Great band!! El Cielo is indeed a tremendous album. Leitmotif is a bit heavier, though, as are their earlier EPs (no longer available so download them). Catch Without Arms is really good, but I've only listened to it a few times, then it was packed away and it's in a box somewhere. It do know that I found it to be more streamlined, less experimental.

Chris DeGarmo co-wrote some songs, too, which is cool and odd at the same time. Hehehe. Great band, though. Definitely check them out.

my favorite is El Cielo which is INCREDIBLE! Blows me away each time I listen to it. Incredibly emotional music. The song The Canyon Behind Her is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. Catch Without Arms is great too but it just can't beat El Cielo. And Leitmotif is good too but doesn't have a whole lot in common with the other 2 records as they have been a lot younger at that time and a lot more...uhmmm...angry.

I can agree on that...I got something in my eye when they played that live, if you know what I mean.

I would never describe 'Leitmotif' as angry, just more... urgent.

I haven't really been following them since 'El Cielo', must go and check out the latest.

I remember I got the reissue of 'Lietmotif' the week it came out, September 2001. The world was going crazy, I was all alone in my house for two weeks, my mother was stuck halfway across the world and all the planes were grounded, that album was my calm little centre amid the chaos.

Watched their performance last year in Potsdam. Genius!

I heard of it, yeah

this thread made me listen to El Cielo again last night. Made me realise that there is not a single bad or mediocre song on it.
