Is anybody here familiar with Last.FM (formerly known as Audioscrobbler)?. I've been using it for a long time and I really like it. Here is my account: http://www.last.fm/user/Biert.

Basically, you install a plugin for your computers audio player (most likely Windows Media Player or WinAMP, but give Foorbar2000 a shot!). This plugin then sends the artist and title of every track you play to the website, where you registered an account.
So on the website you can see exaclty what songs you've played, what your favourite artists and songs are (statistically) and so on. The last 10 songs you played are always visible, weekly charts are calculated on Sundays and global personal chards almost daily.
Also, the website can recommend songs and artists, based on what people listen to with similar musical tastes.
Besides that, there are groups where similar minded people can discuss music, and again different charts are calculated for each of the groups.

Oh, and another important part of it is the radio player. Last.FM can broadcast streaming radio stations, dedicated to someones musical style. There are radio stations with the songs you have played, or with songs similar to your style, or someone elses... Plenty of possibilities.

Overall a pretty cool website, with loads of cool features for music lovers like us. Check it out!

Oh I forgot to mention: it's free! You can pay for some extra features but the extra's aren't very exciting. I got a free one-month subscription because I'm on server cluster 2 and the calculations got messed up... or something like that.

And now, you get a pony too!

Here is the Devin Townsend group: http://www.last.fm/group/HevyDevy

Yup', I wasn't tha timpressed with the recommendation feature at first (I knew the first 5 bands I had to check and don't really like them), but the pony is working way better now.
You have a slider, from popular to less popular.
So have a wide panel of various artists.

As you can see, last week was dedicated to SYL, but this one I discovered California from Mr Bungle and it's playing non-stop.

mines not very accurate since I generally just use songs on my computer to sample stuff that might go on my mp3 player, then when it's on the player I generally never listen to the on the computer ones

or something

yea go me!

Anyone interested in a HevyDevyForums group? It would be cool, but 15 members are required to get the charts calculated.

Yup', why not, it'll be more simple than adding everyone to the friends list.
Though me may not be 15 right from the beginning, but I can bring my bro' too, makes 10-11, maybe a bit more.

Everybody who posted here has had a PM.

Any suggestions for a picture (150x150 px, 20kb) and artist/label connections?

I just got it a few days ago ^_^

Gay thing though is that it doesn't pick up like half the songs on my PC
