hello everyone! i apologize if my handle is a little off-putting to some of you. trust me, i'm a little uncomfortable about it my own self, though probably for different reasons. please don't make me change it as i've become attached to it, and the separation could yield devastating physical results. really, i just came here to vent a little from my life in as cheerful a way as i can muster. my name is mia, but you can call me steve for short. allow me to tell you my tiny story..
i've been a fan for a while. i've only had the opportunity to see a live show once a few years ago, and i was fortunate enough to be able to meet mr. townsend afterward outside the venue where i cajoled him into giving me a hug. i felt ridiculous at the time because i was asking some weird dude for a hug like a silly teenybopper and had just purchased a hoodie from the merch table, but it was cooler than i had expected it to be that night, and i was cold. it didn't matter how silly i felt because it was one of the most enjoyable evenings i've ever had, the fans were so warm and welcoming, and mr. townsend himself was genuinely kind and approachable. it was one of the best nights i've ever had at a show, and a lot of the credit goes to the other dtp fans i met while i was there because they were so amazingly friendly. i left completely happy and satisfied.
so the venting...
just over a week ago, i came home to find my apartment completely trashed. i was robbed. they went through my mail, they ripped up papers, they stole electronics, all my dvds, my rug, my pillows, ALL my bedding, rifled through my dead cat's ashes, they took condoms (that's ok, since i don't want this mystery burglar to spawn,) and even went so far as to take my shower curtain. MY SHOWER CURTAIN, PEOPLE. arg! i can't believe that one. well, that's all just stuff to me, but the one thing they did take that really bummed me out was the ki hoodie i bought that night when i met one of my favorite artist of all time. i'm still pretty bummed about it, i don't think it's available online anymore, and i suppose it wouldn't be the same anyway. the one thing i did find while i was cleaning up was my bracelet from that night, so at least i have that. as it gets colder, i find that i'm getting more pissed that they took my favorite hoodie, but i live in the sonoran desert and it doesn't get too chilly down here. guess i'll have to wait until the next time i can go up to another show. so that's my venting story. aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggg! my shower curtain?--really? REALLY?? man, come on! what is the world coming to...
ah well.
