To all the Americans! I've been thinking that I wish we had it here, it seems much better than Christmas.

So despite the fact that today reminds me that this time last year I was probably sat round a pool in Florida having just discovered that yams are revolting but that pumpkin pie is awesome, I'm going to focus on stuff I'm thankful for

My amazing man
My sweetheart of a niece and cute new nephew
Awesome music
My job, even if it does piss me off a lot
My basses

Thanksgiving is typically a day of leisure, but I ran a 5K in the morning. Definitely cramming my face with food for the remainder of the day, though!

I will gorge. Of course, I do that every day.

Picking up my mom and going over to my brother's house for dinner this year. Up until about 6 years ago, every Thanksgiving we had was spent with my family, my parents, and my three brothers and their families. When my parents moved to Colorado, then my family followed them, the Thanksgiving were much smaller. Then my dad cheated on my mom, and she went to live in Kansas with her sister and family. Thanksgiving became an awkward affair in Colorado with my family, my dad, and his girlfriend and her family. We spent last Thanksgiving alone with just me, my wife, and my son. I loved it.

So now we are back in California, my mom is now back as well, and all the brothers live here. Once again, the big Thanksgiving. Not sure how I feel about that. I know I'm not looking forward to the ginormous Christmas get-togethers. Ugh.

LOUD NOISES!!!!

Thanks for the "Happy Thanksgivings" from everybody. Even though it is a bit of a checkered holiday, I'm thankful that humans has advanced enough, and even though those advances have been a bit fucked in most areas, I think it's pretty cool that through all of the weird meaning and significance that we've attached to damned near everything, that we have advanced in a way that allows us to feel thankful for things. That being said, I'm thankful for the people, places, and useless things that we've concocted to make life go along a little smoother that I've been fortunate enough to wind up with.

Emmeke and I went to Best Buy at midnight last night in my hometown. It was a madhouse, but everyone was pretty laid back and laughing about the whole process.
