Hello you beautiful, beautiful people!
Posted: Sat Aug 13, 2011 10:02 amHi all, name's Nadz. I'm a long-time SYL / Devy listener and fan, but only just got around to joining the board. I'm not much of an online social animal these days, you see.
I felt compelled to join, though. I finally got to see Devy live for the first time in my life and it was SO worth the wait! Work and being a pauper have stopped me going to any gigs in the past, so it was a rare treat when it was announced he was coming to my home town of Exeter! So yeah, I broke the bank and coughed up for a ticket, heh.
Saw him earlier in the day also at Newton Abbot, doing a small acoustic set in a record shop before a signing / meet-and-greet and kind of got to sing harmonies with him on Ih-Ah, which was AWESOME! (I say I sung it with him, it was just such a small venue and quite a low-volume set, and I was stood basically in front of his mic-stand and happened to be signing along with him...but he could hear and so could everyone. I might have been terrible but bugger it, I was in the moment, hah!)
Then that night he did his full gig at the Exeter Cavern, which I managed to get to the front for again, which was AWESOME!
I can't put into words how amazing it felt to finally see my one true musical influence and inspiration live, let alone meet him, and WHAT a guy! He was so generous with his time even though he had to leave for Bloodstock that night, and I know from his "Tweets" that he had little to no sleep in the ensuing 24 hours.
Anyway, fanboy gush over, glad to meet you all!
