O hai! Another Finnish nutter reporting in

Another Finn aboard!
Having been listening to all sorts of music hard & heavy (and all kinds of stuff really, from movie soundtracks to electronic music and what-have-you), I had been aware of Devin Townsend mostly by name only, perhaps hearing a track or two of his work, until last July. Yep, Tuska Open Air 2010 - quite an introduction to The Man himself indeed!
Browsing the concert review section I read this story of "some kid just standing, not knowing the lyrics and looking bored" during the DTP. Well, I guess we're all different and all, but I was too a lame guy not knowing the lyrics, but I certainly wasn't bored! That was quite phenomenal actually, since I've noticed how rare it is for a band you're not familiar with to be instantly absorbing and captivating. Truly amazing shows! I was left with a feeling that I wasn't the only new fan they got during those gigs.
For some reason (being busy, mentally at least ... or something? I don't really know), I put off checking out Devin's records until this year after witnessing the phenomenal March 30th Cable Factory gig. Some rather frenetic record shopping ensued. Got most of SYL and Devin albums in my collection now.
One of my friends, an ardent SYL fan had been mentioning the band and how awesome they are years before, but I guess I had to "discover" music by myself. You know, it's interesting to see how Devin's music appeals to people with very different musical tastes. For example, this aforementioned friend of mine who abolutely adores SYL doesn't care much for Devin's other stuff, while another friend of mine digs the non-SYL records. I was a bit surprised to bump into him at Tuska and he explained he was there just to see Devin, as he generally doesn't care for metal. It's the incredible variation and constant quality I guess.
I've been liking it all though, from the sheer fury and abrasiveness of SYL to the calm ambient moments of his solo albums.
But enough of my ramblings now, risk of losing train thought is steadily growing.
So, to put it short: Hi everyone!
