I've always wondered how prominent metal clubs are around the world. I have no doubt there are thousands, but I would love to know where the BEST one's are, so I can come party when I travel.
Melbourne used to have an amazing metal club; Switch, before it got shut down, and now we don't have much to brag about...
So let me know, where do you party when you wanna rock out, how are the people, and what kinda tracks can you expect to hear there?

Don't know much about clubs these days, but pubs are pretty common. Grand Central in Manchester's really good if you want to hear Maiden, Pantera, Sepultura and Strapping on the jukebox.
Dante's in Crewe is good if there are people there. Only place I've managed to get Mother Love Bone played!

In Essen is a quite good club called "turock". There are a few big cities around (Cologne, Duesseldorf, but you can't find anything like that in quite a big distance i think). Every saturday they play metal - if you are lucky they play Nile, Meshuggah, Satyricon, Tool and SYL (Detox or Love). But the most time they play the more popular boring stuff like Pantera, Metallica, Korn, Rage against the Machine, Rammstein, In Flames, Disturbed (and always the same songs: Chop Suey, Down with the Sickness almost every week). Almost every week they play "Hammer Smashed Face" by Cannibal Corpse and sometimes some unlistenable Grindcore. One time i got the DJ to play Gojira, but he waited until 5 a.m. with it... They fear the more progressive or underground stuff and tend to play "what people know".
On the metal-saturday its not very crowded, it's very loud (much too loud without earplugs) and they play MP3s sometimes. If you don't know anybody it's maybe not the best location, because most of the people are quite reserved and not very "friendly" (but i never see anything violent happen there, they have a very good crew). Agressive moshing is stricly not allowed which is very nice.
So it's not perfect, but still the best club i know. I can dance quite a lot when i'm there.

Sounds pretty good. I was always annoying the DJ's and asking them to play Gojira, only because I have NEVER met a metal-head who doesn't love that band.
Eventually they started playing Gojira every week (:

When he played it (it was "To Sirius") there where maybe 20 people left. Gojira even played a show in this club a few weeks around that time... I don't understand DJs.

There's a good pub in Sydney which hosts metal bands on Fridays for free, usually they're alright.
A club near there has an 'alternative' night on Fridays as well, called Blink. Avoid.
We're quite barren in terms of metal clubs and pubs over here

There's too many to list. I spend my Friday nights in knitting like a badass, though.
