I have a little infinity logo on the back of my neck.
Pain wise, i've certainly felt worst - It's sort of like a hot, scratchy sensation. About the best I can describe it!

Cliche'd left and right shoulders. One is my sketched interpretation of the Ocean Machine logo, and then the other is the Goodbye Blue Monday bomb from Breakfast of Champions.
I have a really high tolerance for pain, so it was just more like an unpleasant scratching of a sunburn, but to me, the worst part was the itching while it was healing.

What he said aboot pain. Ocean Machine logo on upper right arm, but planning on turning it into a half or 3/4 sleeve. Amber and I exchange ideas at times.

I have two (nothing of Devin - yet) on my upper left arm.
One is from Stephen King's It, and is the symbol on the creature's door.
And the other is the logo for the band Summoning.
Pain-wise, only the outlines actually hurt, but getting them filled in didn't really hurt at all, just a warm feeling that felt good, in a masochistic sort of way.

Seems like you folks all have the bicep tatts. That and the thigh are the most comfortable position to get tattooed.
Hog, what part of your body are you getting inked? It feels totally different on other parts of the body. I have a pair of shorts in ink (no I will not post a pic) due to my job, anyhting that can't be covered by knee length shorts and a golf shirt is off limits. I have the upper-arm/shoulders done as well. I've yet to start on my back or chest. In my experience, between your legs and under your arms are the worst. I have a very high pain threshold and I almost quit getting the inside/back of my thigh tattooed. Of course it didn't help that it was at the end of a 5hr sit. The underside of your bicep is pretty tender as well. Friends have told me that your ribcage is the worst. I would have to imagine the skull would be just as painful. There is just no flesh there to soften the blows.
If you plan on getting it in a tender area, I would suggest limiting yourself to a 3hr sit. After your adrenaline wears out, it hurts like a motherfucker.

Hi Antiyou,
I'm looking at getting a design on my bicep.
The Tattooist mentioned that it could take 5-6 hours.

Okay, based on location, you'll be fine. It'll not be comfortable at first, or every time the needle stops and starts, but the majority of the process will just kind of feel like your skin is being tugged by something that's also poking you. Then it'll ache a bit, but nothing bad. Color hurts more than black, incidentally.

I've got Dev's autograph on my wrist (see the tatts thread in the DT board). *Not* a nice place to get done pain-wise, and 'cause it's an area that's nearly always stretching/moving, it's taken a bit longer than usual to heal up. It was sore after, sure, but that went after a few days.
Your tattooist should recommend Bepanthen for healing, it scabs less and clothing doesn't irritate as much.

Bepanthen works great. Last time I tried Jukon, not bad either but you smell like pine forest.
I'm almost done with an arm/chest/back piece, the collarbone was by far the worst part.
