If you don't got it yet my friend, make 'Terria' next... It was my first, and is my most cherished ;)

And you can't have an avatar. You just can't. Technically.

I'm constantly discovering new things in Devin's soundscapes... and loving it! I'm sure I'll never fully appreciate all the subtleties of ambient colour and layers of pure metal riffage but I'm trying my best to appreciate it all!

Anywhoo... I'm Rich, I'm from the UK, I need an avatar, I'm almost 20, I'm a musician and fan of musical awesomeness.

Hey all! :)

Hey! I'm also from the UK, and found Dev through the likes of SYL. But on here, there's no such thing as a n00b =D (or so I believe). Maybe I shouldn't be welcoming you seeing as I abandoned this board a while ago due to MONEY MONEY MONEY related problems, but either way, welcome ^_^.

Sweet, my very own welcome mat! It will be treasured - I won't even wipe my feet on it... Tis good to be welcomed, thanks people. Its also good to see some acceptance from noisy pink bubbles right down to nobody's here-ers. Cheers =)

'preciate the reccommendation steve_dave. I've seen Terria's praises being sung all over the internets. I reckon it deserves a listen from start to finish. I've only got a few tracks right now so that probably doesn't do it justice. I'll get the rest of it in a few weeks (eMusic downloads).

Shame about the technical impossibility of an avatar! I'll just have to be an avatar-less voice in the fan-forum for now...

hey all,

first time poster here. I have been into SYL and all things related to Devy since I bought Alien several months after it's release. That CD was the first SYL these ears heard with the exception of a downloaded sample of "Relentless" somewhere. I think it was intuition that led me to SYL... as soon as I heard Alien I realized this was the band I've been always been waiting for! Now I have most of his catalogue. Alas, I never saw him live. sniff.

His music is truly blissful for me, and Devy's interest in things Zen and philosophy is very appealing. I laugh, cry and RAGE on air drums and guitar when listening. Very cathartic. Indeed.

Finding out that he loves The Dark Crystal and Henson related stuff (PUPPETS!!!) is the nerdy cherry on top of a delicious metal cake.

I'm a graphic designer and a musician. I compose, record and produce my own albums using Cool Edit Pro2. Drums are my first instrument, then guitar, then mixing, production and sound effect creation. I compose mostly experimental/psychedelic/atmospheric electronic and in fact I think mine and Devy's style are kinda similar except that he knows scales and I OWN a scale. heh. One day I'll post some tunes in the appropriate place.

Some of my favorite bands... SYL/DEVY related, Voivod, Squarepusher, Neko Case, Tangerine Dream, Robert Rich, Miles Davis, and many, many more.

TMI?

cheers,

thanks for the warm welcome, folks. :thanks:

So is it just a vicious rumor that I can't upload/display an avatar? I'm simply aching to sum up the totality of my being with a 120 x 120 pixel image. I had found the perfect one.

phooey. ;]

edit: whoops, I found the topic relating to this concern.
