Why isn't my avatar showing up? Is there something wrong with the profile page? Or the write-access on the folder where avatars are uploaded?

I had to enter my password three times (as if I were changing it) for the page to stop giving me a "you must fill in all required fields" error, then once I did that and tried to upload one, it didn't take.
