Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Thank you very much! I wish I could get a car but (sorry as I'm about to temporarily turn this into the un-awesome thread) I'm, without exaggeration, in perhaps the most depressing situation I've ever been in, and have been for many months. London could be a chance to right that so I can't afford to spend any more money on driving. Once I'm in a stable situation I'm going to start lessons again before getting a car.

It's been a minor victory but could be the start of getting things back together :)

I'm sorry to hear you're in a shitty situation mate. All the best with turning it around. A change of environment can be a wonderful thing (which is something I'm also working towards).

When you do get a car, enjoy!

I bought this tiny pedal called an EP booster, and now my guitar and amp sound like they're going to break down the walls. Pleased I am.
Also life. Bar the 9 exams I have soon. Everything else is nice, including the female. Spent some time in an apartment and a house with fireplaces and bathtubs and nice kitchens. Fireplaces are very important.

MrDishington wrote:Sorry for the long post but it's filled with EPIC PERSONAL SUSPENSE that means nothing to anyone else.

I got to my driving test (third attempt) 30 minutes early at which point my instructor asks "Do you have your licence and everything?" to which I reply "FUCK, NO!" I live about 30 minutes drive away. My instructor gets in the driving seat and gets us there in 20 mins. I know from previous experience (whole other story) that they allow you to be up to 5 mins late so we have 15 mins. The whole way back he's saying we won't make it in time. Apparently there was a protest in town so loads of traffic was rediverted in our way. We got there 4 minutes late, wooooooo!

My examiner was the one that failed me last time so I was super nervous, not helped by the fact my instructor told me earlier that morning I was doing my test at the second hardest test centre in the country. Personally I'd have left that out on the day! Nevertheless I PASSED!! :D :D :D

I don't even want to drive any more but it means I can now get on with the serious business of trying to get a new job and moving to London.

Congrats man! I know how nerve destroying driving tests are!

One bit of advice, if I may be an unsolicited-advice-giving-douchebag (and I think I may)... Drive now. On your own. As much as possible. You'll be an infinitely better driver for it. I learned so much more as a licensed driver than I actually did as a learner driver.

The irony is here is incredible as I'm just finishing up the fourth day of having my first car and this afternoon I drove on my own with no backup and it was the most terrifying thing ever. Got to learn though :D I totally agree though, I'm learning at a tremendous speed.

Good man!

I still remember my first trip alone in a car the week I passed my test: I had to take the pool car from work (not my own car as I didnt have one and not a car I had driven before) from Edinburgh to Stirling. This meant driving on motorways for the first time (OMG!) and when I got to Stirling I had to go on a 4x4 course and drive like a lunatic for that. On the way home there was a thunderstorm and the traffic was mental. Needless to say I was a nervous wreck when I got home....but so glad I made it in one piece.

Driving is scary.

It is!

And then it eventually becomes completely awesome.

Like most things worth doing I guess, ha.

Mentioned it elsewhere, but I got the job I applied for, so yay me.

My boss two levels up in seniority was away today, but I sent him an email this afternoon giving notice that I'm moving to another department in four weeks. Which is a shame for him as he'd decided that with my immediate superior (and other half of my team of two) going on nearly 3 months of leave next month that he wouldn't bother to backfill my position in ANY way shape of form, or offer me any other tangible assurance that I would get ANY help for 3 months.

Monday morning is going to be fun!
