Yeah I don't really need the internet at the festivals, except possibly to check the weather or bus/train schedules. But I also don't want to keep two separate phones, especially when all smartphones seem to use micro-sim and dumbphones don't, so I couldn't even use the same sim card for both.

So you're saying that if I turn off the internet, a new smartphone is going to last at least 4 days of "normal" usage (i.e., calls and texts to meet up with people)?

It should be ok. Get a spare battery and a portable charger, duracell do them.

Also...what the fuq is a micro sim?

Ok thanks. But aren't portable chargers inefficient and spare batteries expensive (can you even replace them on most new models?). Just having long battery life seems simpler. Micro sim is the newer tiny sim card used in new phones http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GSM_M ... m_Card.svg Exactly the same as an old sim card except for the smaller size so it's not compatible with older phones, so yeah.

Well if you look at the Samsung Galaxy S2 for example, it lasts a bit longer than other phones due to the AMOLED screen and the extra battery which is 2000mAh instead of the standard 1650mAh is only like, 30-40 euros? A smartphone lasting 3-4 days will be hard to find, even with internets turned off. Remember the screen eats up like 60% of the power most of the time

Fine example of some genuine Freemason activity in action-

My neighbour (and lifelong ho' from another mo') Lauren had to rush her wee 14 month old babby to A&E today, the docs finally figured out the girlie had a double ear infection, gave her some painkillers and antibiotics and sent them home. Now, this all took about 3 hours, but while shit's going down; Lauren's scared for her child, her child is scared in general...doctor comes up and gives her this to cuddle-

Image

So just as they leave, Lauren goes to give it back, and the doctor says "No, that's for her to keep. They're donated by Surrey Freemansons to comfort children in hospital". She told me this tale just now and I explained to her that TLC (Teddy Loving Care) has been going for about 10 years now and one of the few charities I do actually give money to. Sure it's not exactly changing the world by curing AIDS or solving world poverty; but it's amazing how something so little can make such a big difference to a frightened, poorly kid.

100% finished my degree. Probably not to a particularly high standard, but nonetheless, a perfect reason to get drunk.

Faaaaaaaaaanks :D

Edit: And to add to the awesome, I got my results back for my dissertation thing today. Managed to get 72% overall; 70 percent is an "A" (though I'm not sure why my uni grades things this way. It doesn't really help when trying to work out whether you're looking at getting a 1:1, 2:1 etc.)

Very happy with that. Wasn't expecting an 'A' at all :D

Previously holiday-less summer is now not so holiday-less! Three days of getting Amsterdamaged at the end of June before a weekend in Eindhoven and then back for another two-day blitz on the Damrak before heading home.

Minor downside is that I'll probably not be in Eindhoven on every coming Saturday on account of rehearsals for the album we're recording in July. If you're here on a Friday night as well that'd be no problem though.

We'll probably be heading to Eindhoven on Saturday the 1st of July and we'll be there till Tuesday the 3rd, I'd say... We'll figure something out anyway. Although pre-planning would be a better idea because me and Orl will both more than likely be mongoloided for the entire time we're there. :D

less-awesome is that you can't partake in coffee shops unless you can prove residency now, or so i read recently. May be this law has yet to take effect ( or toke a fact).

It's not fully implemented yet in Amsterdam, as far as we know. And we've got family there anyway. Orla's sister and brother-in-law live in Eindhoven so it'll be grand either way!
