I am a bit freaked out because I've got this insane loud white noise in my left ear, and I've had it for two weeks. It flushes out alot of sound and by my own measurement seems it's at 75% hearing compared to my right ear. Kinda nervous if I actually managed to fuck up my hearing at 22, this badly, whilst not actually listening to any loud music or having any loud noises nearby. I was supposed to use my ears as tools in what would be my career. Fuck you, world

It came suddenly out of nowhere ?
For no reason ?
You weren't exposed to any loud noise ?

Tinnitus (whether it's a high pitched noise or white noise or whatever) can happen for various reasons, most obvious being an audio-traumatism, but it can also happen for other reasons (medical, muscular tensions, blood vessel flow, jaw problem, etc...)
Maybe you have some kind of infection or even something stuck in the ear ?

If there's no reason for this noise to be, you should see an otolaryngolog

(I've got high pitched tinnitus triggered at a heavy metal show, but I was badly sick just the day of the show (which probably weakened my whole organism) and I learned a few days later that it seemed I also had some kind of slow developing otitis... the tinnitus had pretty much disappeared (or I got used to it pretty well) but it came back at full power when I had a neck sore, so either the neck sore or medication I had triggered the tinnitus again)

Babe, get yourself to an ENT specialist as soon as you can, they can do a hearing/pressure test and check everything out. If it doesn't go away they can give you things to help you manage it. I suffer from occasional tinnitus (just dull ringing, happens most days, usually when I'm about to go to bed) it developed through trauma from mastoiditis which I had to have several operations to fix when I was a kid, it wasn't until I was about 16 when I was finally signed off (while I do live next to a hospital, the one I had to go to was the other end of London, literally every three months just for the check ups). I started to develop it again recently, luckily the ENT doc next door nipped it in the bud a few months ago, but while I had it I had the LOUDEST tinnitus I've ever had in my life, like white noise type stuff- like I didn't even know if it was in my head or right outside my house...and you can NOT sleep through that shit. It's not so bad now but I developed hyperacusis cause of it, like tinnitus it never goes away, but with both you can learn to manage them so you don't focus on it all the time. This is why it's so important to wear ear protection at gigs, tinnitus, hyperacusis, hearing loss etc. can all occur from listening to loud music, and they all suck! But they're preventable!!!!!

So what I thought was a zit turns out to be a paralabral cyst. Great.

Wonder how much this will cost to be removed. I just hope it doesn't lead to anything more serious.

Yeah I'm gonna get a doctor's appointment for next week. Last night it got ridiculously loud, like blacking out everything else, and I completely lost my balance and went really fucking dizzy. I went to bed and I couldn't understand what direction was up and which was down. Do not like.

That's been my life on and off for about 7 years now due to Meniere's disease. Thankfully I suffer much less from the symptoms these days. This is often the case with Meniere's - many people get less and less frequent and severe symptoms as they get older and it looks like I'm in that boat (THANKFULLY!!!). I've got permanent tinnitus in my right ear and some hearing loss in that ear too, but I genuinely don't care about having that if it means I'm not dizzy, vomiting and doped up on tranquilisers. I hope you sort out whatever it is that's causing your ear issues and that you get rid of it ASAP. :D

Un-awesome is this RIP trolling, cyberbully bullshit.

Do you have any other symptoms you can think of? I was getting dizzy as fuck constantly (I still do, but not that often) and I was occasionally blacking out. Like, I was on holiday in Greece and blacked out twice, once in the sea (yeah!), it was a pretty damn scary time. Doc had a look inside, I had at some point ruptured my eardrum and it couldn't heal properly, scar tissue was building up causing problems, which was physically making me a very unwell Vi Pie. It hadn't affected my hearing though (despite the tinnitus) so maybe you might have had the same problem? Small ones usually heal up ok by themselves (although mine won't, I had to have it cauterized...while awake...without painkillers. Not even a lollipop. Or a cuddle.) So don't worry pickle, it sucks but once you can get a referral to a specialist they can sort you out C:

Get well soon, peoples!

Not quite so un-awesome, but I've been working on a video idea, and then realised I can't upload it for the Lucky Animals video. Why? Because it's not "'performing' to Lucky Animals". It's something set to it.

So you know what? Bloody doing it anyway. I just won't send it in, s'all. Meeeeeeeeh...

Went to a doctor today, found out the cyst is more epidermal, but infected. Just need to take antibiotics for a week to lessen the swelling before they can remove the sac.
Think I'll be taking Friday off, then.

It could be worse :D I mean, it was fucking horrible at the time (without freaking Morten out cause won't be as bad as this- he yanked all the scar tissue out from behind my eardrum and shoved a silver nitrate stick down it...and like I said no painkillers, just "don't move your head.") and while I was sitting in the corridor having a little quiet cry to myself afterwards- I noticed the room opposite was a rehab gym, I had a peak through the open door and thought "Fucksake Violet you silly cow." yeah, I was all sore and dizzy, but I'd be fine after a lie down. There were people in that room who had been in massive accidents and shit who were stuck like that but getting on with. It's all about the bigger picture innit?
