Awesome to hear after like, five years- my mate's band have got a new album ready to boot out into world. Even more awesome that they poached Matt from Akercocke/The Berzerker.

IKNORITE! He's definitely brought a bit of himself to the table, their new stuff's very different compared to the last one (and it's actually a very sad album, there's been some really grim stuff going on in their camp so it's all very genuine D: )

http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_12011186 Has a listens if you liek.

Fab! I hope you like it :D I've been friends with their vocalist and bassist for eeeons but hadn't seen them for a while, so when they told me they had some new stuff I was like-

"About fucking time! What took you so long?"

"Our drummer had cancer!"

"oops."

Oh cheers! :D They've always been attached to that style, but....I dunno, it wasn't AS good as now. I think Matt (and their new DJ) has done them a world of good.

Having a phonecall from two awesome friends I went to uni with at 20 past midnight "HIIII ARE YOU AT HOME? WE'RE ON OUR WAY! <3"

I don't know why, but I'll get the kettle on.

Mmmmm.. egg.

So I've decided to move on from my current employer. And trust me, this is awesome, not un-awesome. The job is just not for me in the long term and there are major, major issues within the organisation. I recognised them early on and have tried to give the place the benefit of the doubt for 15 months now, but things have been getting progressively worse. I work with great people but senior management have... shall we say... influenced... an excellent little government department in their quest for improved "quality".

End result? 6 of the 13 people I started with in late 2010 have left, another is on maternity leave and won't return and all but one of the remaining people have told me they are desperate to leave. People with 10 to 20 years of experience and spotless records are now being "managed" due to a new quality review system. And the resulting improvement in "quality"? ZERO. By all measuring techniques, quality has remained EXACTLY the same. I won't name the department and I won't broadcast my thoughts on said department because I like having a job.

So here's the awesome! :D I'm looking into taking up study again to eventually land a position related to environmental management. Park ranger-type work. Vermin control, backburning, public education / PR, maintenance, compliance etc. I need to be outdoors for both my physical and mental health. All day every day in front of a pair of monitors just stinks, unless said monitors are being used for Skyrim. I have health stuff going on that just isn't compatible with the nature of full-time office work.

So I'm looking for a bit of a bridging job in the Queensland state department that runs the whole show up there. Will just be an admin type job more than likely, but it will pay the bills while both my wife and I study in order to start new careers (and raise our little boy and any future siblings). This will mean a move back to Brisbane, which has its positives and negatives. And it's a bloody competitive field but I'll do what needs to be done to make it in the long term. Been there, done that.

I know this is all self-indulgent guff, but I've been a bit under the weather and this decision has really set me on a new course of just plain awesomeness, so I needed to unload!

Hope you're all doing great!
