Jellyfish = super duper powerpop, terrific songs, sounds like Brian Wilson, Mike Kenneally, Supertramp and ACT jamming and sharing happy psychadelic mushrooms. Nice!

Both remix video game music; it's not sad, or angry. Very nice stuff from both of them, po! tends to lean towards more "smooth", jazzy melodies (but they're upbeat), whereas quinnfox tends to lean towards more energetic, quick, techno-sounding songs.

Also try anything from Venetian Snares, m1dy, or DJ Sharpnel. (all speedcore/breakcore artists)

@ mr. danceswithchickens - one question: is there any eyvind kang album to compare with the awesome "virginal coordinates".

it's because i bought "athlantis" and i think it really sucks. i mean, mike patton can nearly sing in every way and every language but NOT LATIN. i would say, i'm really open to new music but i cannot stand choral singing. y'know, it's not only about the singing, but the music is also kind of boring. i would have loved an instrumental record by Kang without church... choral... whatever athlantis is... influences.

(i'm gonna go down a strictly metal based route here for recomendations..)

power metal is always good for a laugh. someone already mentioned it. but can be a dodgy path too!!

try
Power Quest (SoOO cheesy and cheerfu. check out their song Far Away. http://www.myspace.com/powerquest)
vision divine - (italian cheese. check out alpha & omega and le vita fugge http://www.myspace.com/visiondivineband)
dragonforce ( cant deny it, thier cheery bastards)
Firewind
dream evil
Terasbetoni
circus maximus , perhaps
falconer - worth checking out their vocalist alone
symphony X - get pumped up with good ol russel allen

punk-
Ignite i find uplifting
cant go wrong with a bit of less than jake hah

Hellfueled - positive sounding, but can you deal with how much the singer wants to be ozzy?

Indeed I would've said California by Mr Bungle.

Maybe also Incubus. I loaded my whole mp3 folder not so long ago and among all those bands that was considered nu-metal, while most of those are now dead, turning emo, or whatever, Incubus' albums of that time are still pretty good IMO. I've heard their 4 full albums from Fungus to Morning View, and I still like the 4 of them. Morning View is "softer", Science is really good, sometimes it sounds a lot like Faith No More, which can't be a bad thing.

Someone said Ayumi Hamasaki, well not really what I prefer from Japan, I'd rather say Shiina Ringo (and her later band Tokyo Jihen), which are, over time, a blend of pop, rock, jazz, bossa nova, piano bar, whatever... Gotta get used to her voice, but really good stuff, sometimes quite noisy (she sometimes uses a megaphone) with the bass doing the melody and the guitar messin' around in the background...
Here's a short one I really like :

Jethro Tull maybe too.

Replace the 'fr' part in the link with "www" and you're set:

Stupid localisations. Why won't the world just realize that when we all speak English (besides maybe a native language) the world will be so much easier?
Same with driving on the right-hand side and the metric system...

Hey! Type O ain't downer stuff! It is actually quite hilarious.
