The show was so well done that as it stands I'm prepared to wait (and wait and wait) for the TV series to unfold and then go back and read the books. Given I have very little patience, that's a hard thing to do as the books keep calling me from the shelf!

Have you read the books? And what's your opinion on the series vs the books?

I've read four of the five books. I actually started reading them after finishing the first season of the show. The first book was a little boring to read for me because, for the most part, the events in the show are the same. There are scenes that aren't in the show, though. And because I watched the show first I was also able to put a face to characters when they were brought up in the book. For a series like this where there are literally hundreds of characters, it is pretty helpful. I think you'll agree with me because you don't end up confusing characters or forgetting who 'so-and-so' is as much as you would have otherwise.

Cool, thanks for that.

I'll do my best to wait for the 2nd season and go from there.

As you say, tv can be incredibly fickle so who knows how far they'll make it with the tv series?

Next season should be good, but wait for seasons three and four (they're planning on splitting the third book into two seasons). If the show lasts that long, we're in for a treat.

Quick summary of my life right now:

- After studying psychology for a year my grades are: A, A, B, B, B, C
- I think I have a good shot at getting a job at one of the local shops... which is good, considering I am 21 and haven't had a real job yet.
- I just got offered a web designer job for the psychological committee at the local university.
- I spent a shitload of money and time on getting the school books for this year

...and now I got an e-mail saying I might get into City University London if I hurry the fuck up. This is PLAIN AWESOME, but will render everything above useless.

I DO LIKE THE PROSPECT OF HAVING A FAFFY IN THE CITY.

Cody and I just solved world turmoil and given the morbidly obese people of the world a purpose in life.

By plotting to deploy the obese to turmoil zones and to third world countries where they'd eat the entire indigenous population before themselves being forced into the same starvation as those third world people that they ate which ultimately stops them being obese and they can be integrated back into a normal, peaceful society as regular sized folk?

No, it's pretty simple. I've learnt this from controlling unruly young children.

If they have a squinny, you sit on them. Then their fierce anger turns into pathetic flailings.

OH OH OH OH!!! Finally got a reference from my secondary school teachers!!! I can now apply to uni in LAAANDAAAN. :D
And the reference is just epic:
Eli was a student at the Media Department at <lol censored> Upper Secondary School from 2006 – 2009. Textwork, picture and sound, both for digital and analogue distribution, were part of her education during this period. Her presentations within various fields were of high quality.

Eli is a student with outstanding verbal skills, both written and oral. One of her qualities is the capacity for personal reflection. She is an independent student with high expectations, both for herself and for her teachers and fellow students. She is considerate and polite, but her questions can be challenging in a positive way.

Eli's English skills are above average.

YES. NO. I HAVE NO SHAME.

I fucking love that! You expect a lot from everyone (which you should), but you are respectful about it while at the same time being "challenging," in a good way. LOL! Right on!

They lost me at "outstanding verbal skills". Who knew? :P
I'm just incredibly thankful that they put this together in such a short period of time, and for writing so much nice stuff. :3
