Alien Colonial Marines will be released next month and I'm still not sure whether I should pre-order it or wait for the first reviews to pop up before making a decision. It's been in development for ages which could mean that it may look and play like a 4 year old game. The collector's edition looks real neat though. Hmmmm....

I don't remember well, but I think you'll need to start over.

And it's also quite cheap on Amazon UK right now :o I didn't like Far Cry 2 too much though. Not so much because of the game itself but the fact that enemies constantly respawn is kind of annoying. So I'd hope that's a little different in FC3.

Somewhat late answer - I started to play it and it looks decent. Runs well, looks nice and there seems to be a lot activities to do. I hated the respawns in FC2 too, it seems to be made better here - enemies resupply by arriving in jeeps mostly instead of just popping out of thin air every two minutes. There's healthy bit of extreme sports plus funny crafting mechanics which makes you run around the forest and stab tapirs to make a new loot bag out of their skins. I play for quite a short time and already murdered small zoo of endangered animals. Oh and you can unleash a tiger on your enemies, that ain't bad too.

hmmm, sounds good enough, actually. Might be worth a purchase then! Hope it's still cheap on amazon.co.uk. Unleashing tigers on enemies sounds awfully awesome! :D Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Of course, if they offer up DLC and it's good enough, it'll probably have a GOTY with loads of stuff.

God damn those editions, they make me spoiled and I have to wait (well, I feel almost obligated to do so as I don't have a PSN account). :P

Been playing Assassin's Creed 3. I'm only halfway through the story so far, but it has quite a few things going for it. Visually it's stunning, free-running through the trees is cool, eavesdropping makes a more prominent return and the city of Boston is believable enough, although I do find it less convincing than Florence/Venice/Rome which all had very distinct feels and styles. Gameplay-wise there's not a whole lot of assassinating going on, compared to say AC2 or AC:B. Instead there's a bunch of fetch quests which unlock various things for your homestead, you can play with your battleship (which is alright), hunt animals, open trade routes... And I miss the extensive free-running/climbing in churches/dungeons.

I'm a bit of two minds on this one, but maybe the story will save it at the end, including more challenging assassinations. As of yet it seems a bit hit-and-miss.

yeah, I know. The problem is that I'm usually not patient enough for that! :P Besides in this particular case I doubt there will be more than multiplayer DLC and I generally don't care much for that. The freaking collector's edition costs 100

has anyone checked out the Omega DLC for ME3 yet (Steph, I'm looking at you)? Is it worth the 1200 MS points? Or should I wait till it gets a little cheaper? I read you can't go back to Omega once you played through the DLC which is a bit of a bummer.

Hahah, I was waiting for you to check it out and let me know! :D
I can't justify the 1200 points until I hear from a trusted source whether it's absolutely worth it. Having read about it enough I suspect it may be, but it's too expensive on the MS points to potentially be a disappointment/waste of pennies and tarnish 3's overall glory (for me, anyway).

I very much agree. 1200 MS points is a lot for something that may be disappointing, even if it's Mass Effect which has never disappointed me so far (I'm just a naive fanboy though). I'm having a really hard time waiting for it to get cheaper though because I'm like a meth head when it comes to ME :P

how about this one

speaking of that. I'm currently playing Silent Hill 2 on the PS3. People who had planned to buy the Silent Hill HD collection for either console know that both included games were buggy as hell. But thank goodness they at least released a patch for the PS3 version and I'm happy to say that Silent Hill 2 runs quite well now (I have not tried Silent Hill 3 yet). And it looks quite neat in HD too. The fog looks fine now, water still looks a little crappy though but you don't see that a lot anyways.

I gotta say SH2 is still pretty great but less scary than I remember. Silent Hill 1 on the PS1 on the other hand still gives me an unsettling feeling, despite the
